WFT eliminates "cheerleading" squad

I’d be happy to see cheer, bands, the whole thing : gone. I’m amazed people are so passionate about the extras. I want to watch football for 3h on a Sunday. I’d love to see them dump the halftime show of the SB as well.

I’m clearly in the minority.
I'm in agreement, though we are likely in the minority on that...I'm old enough to remember watching the games during the late '60s and halftime included showing some local high school or college marching band doing those cool-looking formations...Less talk, more action...

They use to be called the Redskinettes. I wonder what they were called for that one year? The Washington Football Team Cheerleaders?

Wow. I have been waiting to see something from you since I came back to this forum and this is what you come up with? Disappointing, that’s all I can say, really disappointing. If this is the best you can do it may be time for the gas factory

Glue factory?

These women WANT to do this. That is how they earn a living and in some instances is their start to a bigger career in show business, etc.

You really need to educate yourself on this issue, watch “A Woman’s Work: The NFL’s Cheerleader Problem,” a documentary.

10 NFL teams have been sued for underpayment, sexual harrassment, wage theft, unsafe working conditions.

Dude, they get paid $150 per game.

Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, yeah. But that's the high end. Other teams are worst.. some of them pay only $5 hour. That's below despicable.

Just saying I don't get the reason people like cheerleading. Not saying other people need to agree.
I'm with you on that one. It's not the end of the world and it's simply a topic that was brought up here.

You aren't in a minority. Most fans watch sports for the sport, not to see cheerleaders or hear bands and definitely no to hear the player's political views. People who go to sporting events for anything other than the event are the clear minority.

I say that it's very possible that there isn't a single person here who has stood up and cheered along with a cheerleader at a sporting event.

Read my post #37.

Talking about wanting to do it - not working conditions. Separate issue.

This an ownership decision. It is about marketing and publicity and brand. I can't see Dallas getting rid of them, or KC or Seattle or Las Vegas. Some teams like having cheerleaders. It isn't as if, the owner can take that money and increase player salaries. If they think that cheerleaders mean more revenue, then they will continue the practice.

probably more of one of the most hated owners trying to cash in the current political admosphere, wont work Dan, even if you were the next Jeses, people are going to continue to hate you

Toads have a higher L factor than Snyder

Meanwhile...Pom Pom girls in the heated trailers outside RFK stadium are pulling down $1000/hr....one can only guess at the routines going on within as they pass by on the way to the entrance gate...Pom pom....pom pom pom.....must be quite a show

NFL Cheerleaders are grossly underpaid. Because they do not get reimbursed for all the promotional appearances they make. So for $2,400 a year, they give up how many hundreds hours of time?

Why does the NFL get away with it? The women believe that this is a stepping stone into the the entertainment industry. However for every Paula Abdul, there is a million other women who get nothing out of it.

Sure you are semi-famous, notice how they only give the cheerleaders first names. But it really is a screw job by the NFL and you would think that a multi billion dollar business could do better.

I mean do you think Kraft would be in the poor house if he paid these women say $20k a year? I think that is a fair amount of compensation for the time they put in.

They want to do it? I don't think that's what's happening.

Let's frame it like this: They're lured into doing it, they buy into the glamour and the buzz, and then they are trapped by the time they realize the ****ty working conditions, because they've signed a contract that wasn't clear and straightforward.

Maybe it's just me but I don't know any girls who likes getting sexually harassed while being underpaid and over worked.
