What BB’s Plan at QB Is

I think there’s a very solid chance Bill told Cam it’s your job as long as your healthy in return for Cam signing for peanuts.
I think an arrangement like that would not fit in BB's MO imo. I think the explanation is simpler - as horrible as he was, he was the only viable NFL starting QB on the roster. No point giving regular season snaps to the other guys who have no future with this team.

If and when Stidham is sent packing after camp then we'll know for sure.

No, cam really had no where else to go. Bill gave Bledsoe a 100 million contract and benched him in favor of Brady. So, no he did not promise Cam the job is his no matter how he performed, as long as he was healthy

If this truly is the case then Stidham has no business even being on the roster.

He just paid some punk $50 to light a fire under Cam's ass

The other QB on the roster was Hoyer. We didn’t have many options. Stidham is worse than Cam, but Cam isn’t the long term answer either. The question right now is basically whether Bill thinks we are going to find the long term answer this year or if it’s smarter to rebuild without a QB and then become a more attractive spot or be in a better position to make trades in the draft in 2022

I dont think he has a plan, if last year is any indication. I'd love to be surprised, but I'm prepared for the Patriots to have bottom 5 (if not dead least, 32nd) QB play again and miss the playoffs, while Brady is likely in another NFC title game minimum. Another sub .500 season incoming.

You reap what you sow, Bill. Pushing Tom out was easily one of the worst personnel decisions in the history of Boston/New England pro sports. Having no plan to replace him makes it infinitely worse. Hope Tom wins at least one more to shove it down Bill's/the Kraft's throats even more.

I don’t think they actually expected Brady walk and got caught with their pants down.

Bill thought he could continue to treat Brady like **** and get away with it, Brady called his bluff. Could have just shown some respect (both personally and financially) to the greatest player to ever put on an NFL uniform. Too bad Bill's ego is the size of the sun and he wanted to string Brady along with year to year deals, meanwhile giving him zero weapons/help on offense, stripping Alex Guerrero of access/credentials, etc. It's all about power/control for Bill and Tom got too big for him to contain, so he wanted to move on.

Then Brady wins the ****ing SB the first year without him. New system, new team, in a pandemic. He elevated that franchise from nothing to champions. It's always been about Brady, unfortunately Bill's ego blinded him to this.

I feel like our best strategy is to trade a mid round pick for a starter before free agency opens - someone along the lines of Mariota or Minshew - who have a salary that wouldn't preclude you from adding another option later. Then see what turns up in the draft. If SF find a QB then, I'd still be interested in trading for Jimmy on draft weekend - have an open competition in camp, you might even be able to trade Mariota away again if needed. I, unlike a lot of posters, also have interest in Mac Jones. He reminds me of Matt Ryan, and I think can be a decent player in the NFL, so I'm not against taking him in the 1st round personally.

This. We need 2 QBs if we draft one. I don’t think the value is at QB this year, in the first round anyway. We can get a franchise front 7 player, especially if a bunch of the other teams overdraft at QB.

If this is true, which makes sense because Belichick left the team in a terrible position, it makes him look even worse. How could he be playing hard ball with no backup plan or options? Did he really think he could continue to use and abuse Brady w/o consequences. Wow, what a suck ass move. Dreadful and pathetic.

looking at some things John Mcclain in Houston wrote - sounds like he thinks a Watson trade is still in play, and that there is no way the Bronocs are involved.......sounds like he expects the Jets, and not much else

Hahahaha
Are you serious?
Watson is choosing to leave the dumpster fire that is Houston to voluntarily go to the JETE? WTF

@Tunescribe , @Joker what say you about this.

Because it would be about a 1-2 year window of hoping to be playoff relevant while retooling. They would, obviously, have to be looking for the next "franchise" QB at the same time.

I'm not sure where you're getting the "just run deep" stuff after last year in Pittsburgh, but the days of Roethlisberger being a bombs away QB are gone.
True. But somebody needs to tell HIM that.

Joe Banner says he's worth 4 #1's and Peter King Says more.

Maybe that will bring others into the conversation.

Let's see, after four seasons as a starting quarterback, Tom Brady had won three Super Bowls. After three and one-half seasons as a starting quarterback, Watson has a 1 win, 2 loss playoff record and he's supposed to be worth four or more number ones!

Yeah but it's Deshaun Watson!!!!

It’s rare for a young top 10 QB to be available on the trade block. He’s getting a minimum of 3 firsts and change. 4 isn’t unrealistic.

Well, OK. It's easy to complain, and I probably indulge too often in that debased pleasure, so I'll say something affirmatively.

If we're looking for a qb who might be temporary but just might not be, who's at least "interesting" as a prospect, who can be gotten fairly cheap, who while he's no TB12 is pretty good-lookin', who's not afraid to fly his li'l freakflag around the ol' locker room, who sports the same raffish 70's pornostash as yours truly, we want

...Insert weak "tahdah" here...

Gardner Minshew.

Why I can hear the hosannahs from here in my snowy bower, deep in the piney woods.
