if big ben retirement/cut happens, that maybe opens up the market a little more.......but brisset looks like he's available, SF is either going blockbuster or holding pat......how many teams are in the market that won't be able to deal with it via the draft?

demand may not be high enough to hope for any return beyond a 5th rounder on minshew......kind of makes him the ultimate backup

I have an odd feeling it's Mitch Trubisky

I have had this terrible feeling in my stomach that somewhere in the depths of patriots place, McDaniels is sitting on the bowl and watching trubisky tape and thinking “I can this guy great in my offense.”

At some point, McDaniels is going to go into bb’s office, wake up bb and show him film of the terrible defensive back, wade of Ohio state, and then when bb is all lathered up to waste another 2nd round draft pick on the loser, McDaniels says, “oh by the way, we need to sign trubisky because I know how how to make him into Brady part 2.”

and with bb having googling eyes for the awful defensive back wade from Ohio state, bb replies, “yeah that is a great idea!”

I don't put a lot of stock in these rumors, but if he did want to, and he specifically wanted to leave Indy, now's the time. The Colts just traded for Wentz with a huge contract, so if he comes out of retirement now, they would probably have to move him. Theoretically, they could absorb his contract (I think they still have around $50m of space post-Wentz trade), but that'd be tough to do - and they just paid a decent chunk in salary and draft capital for a new QB.

I honestly don't hate Trubisky. Chicago is a wreck. Feel like he might actually be decent elsewhere. Not great, but maybe okay. As a bridge guy, I wouldn't hate it, as long as he had competition of some kind.

Having said that - with the cap space issues around the league compared to NE's relatively large sum of money free, and some opt outs returning - it feels more appropriate to try to build a contender for this year right now rather than go through a 2+ year rebuild.
