Carson Wentz traded to the Colts

Belichick was the gm. Andy w was the cap guy

Belichick wasn't much involved in Bledsoe's 10 years contract. It was mostly Kraft who wanted to get it done. Also Andy Wasynczuk was there before Belichick was hired in 2000, a friend of Jonathan, so the fact he was chosen to lead the negotiations is another tip thas Belichick involvement was minimal.

In the book, O’Connor lays out the case that there are only three times when New England Patriots owner has imposed his will on Belichick when it came to personnel decisions.

The first of these moments was when Kraft insisted on signing quarterback Drew Bledsoe to a then-record, 10-year, $103 million contract prior to the 2001 season.

Bledsoe was a Kraft decision. Belichick didn't want Bledsoe. Every action after proved that.

>Kept 4 QBs despite having the highest paid QB
>broke the "QB can't lose job because of injury" unwritten rule
>Traded him in division

Belichick didn't have complete control like he does now, it was literally him benching Bledsoe for Brady and winning the SB the same year that got him the control he has today.

If it had been up to Belichick, Brady would have been his starter at the beginning of the 2001 season. He had said as much to Kraft when they met at the end of the preseason, but Belichick had known that he wasn’t in a position to push the issue then, when Bledsoe was the face of the franchise and Belichick was coming off a 5-11 season. Although Kraft had given him tremendous latitude over personnel decisions, benching the greatest quarterback in franchise history in favor of an unproven rookie right after Kraft had made Bledsoe the highest-paid player in the league would have been a bridge too far.

Trubisky intrigues me. I haven't watched a ton of his games (maybe I'll watch one tonight), but he seems like he could be a good game manager and haven't heard any noise from him when Foles was brought in. So maybe he is a good teammate and doesn't let his ego get in the way. If the Bears get Wentz will Foles be the back up to him again, like in Philly? That could make for some good talk radio banter in Chicago.
I’m sure Foles is going back to Philly if they work out a trade to bring Wentz to Chicago

Please don’t try to use Ian OConnor as a source for anything to be consider fact.

Belichick was the GM. Andy W did not make contract decisions, he managed the cap when structuring.
If you seriously think belichick sat back and let it happen against his wishes you may be Ian OConnor :)

And his bs about trading brady has been proven without a doubt to be a lie.

Disagree. Where are you quoting from?

Just heard he on the Radio Eagles are talking to the Bears about 2 first round picks and a starting defensive player.
I’m torn if I would do Wentz for a first and and Gilmore.
Im leaning towards Marriotts for a second or Gilmore or Trubisky for free.
Tru and drafting Mac Jones Or Mond wouldn’t be a terrible scenario.
Heck no, I wouldn’t give up Gilmore alone for Wentz. He’s isn’t good and costs a lot.

I don't understand why any team would give up anything significant for Wentz? It beggars belief that he can play so poorly, get benched and then the Eagles can turn around and ask for two first rounders. If he's worth two firsts, he'd be the Eagles starter. The fact they want rid of him shows you what they think of him. Oh and add in his millstone contract. No thanks.

I don’t think wentz will be succesfull in Chicago. They need to upgrade the weapons and o line to protect Wentz or they will have a fumble Festival.

Because these are the same guys who traded 2 3rds and a 4th to move up one spot in the draft to draft Trubisky ahead of both Mahomes and Watson. So they have to....

Wentz sucks. Imagine the crappy personality of a Rodgers but without the talent. Not a leader. Clearly a coach killer. Multiple other options that are better in free agency or the draft.

.

Won’t happen, but just for context..

Yea my Iggles buddy that I talked to last week about their steak-head new HC said Wentz is a ****head. Thinks his poop doesn't stink.

That won't fly here.
I've never been a fan. He makes far too many boneheaded decisions. He'll probably drag Indy down.

Locker room scuttlebutt in Philly ( jounalists quoting unnamed players) is that they didnt want to ctriticize him too harshly because his psyche wouldnt tolerate it... When Foles was here. players seemed to player harder for Foles and genuinely seemed to like him more....... makes you wonder what went on behind the scenes... No thanks Wentz....Guy got himself locked in a gas station bathroom stall on the way to his first Philly press conference..... Rookie mistake: Wentz gets locked in bathroom

There is no reason to accept losing while you rebuild when you have at least 60,000,000 in cap space.
There is no reason to lose 3 years before you figure out you drafted Daniel Jones, EJ Manuel, Brandon Weeden or Mark Sanchez.
Yeah I don't understand this line of thinking.

Alot of people on this board also expecting that the draft pick will 100% be a good QB in 3 years. No guarantee they are. There are far more busts in the 1st round than studs

Not that I don't want them to draft a guy. But I'd rather be the chiefs or niners with Alex Smith than the Jets or Jaguars drafting a new QB every 3 years because the guy they drafted sucks

I wouldn’t be totally against that $$ wise as he has no dead money after 2 seasons if we need to part ways. Definitely not giving up a first or anywhere near as in the rumored bears scenario above. If the rams can get bent over to get goff’s contract off their hands how are the Eagles getting anything at all in return for a much worse contract?

Part of the attraction of wentz was the idea he could come cheap. A few non 1sts would be ok but we need the 1st this for the draft choice. Wentz plus drafting a Qb works, wentz instead of drafting a Qb does not
