10 Patriots who might not be around for the 2021 season

Some key veterans need to stay to lead the new guys. Who will stay and who will go is going to be anyone's guess during the off season.

I can see a player or two go to Tampa especially if Brown and Godwin go somewhere else. Could be Edelman, white, burkhead, gilmour.
I think Gilmore would be a great add to their secondary.

If they trade him Pats should try to trade him to a team that will collapse in 2021 so the draft pick they get inflates in value like the Dolphins one did. Bucs won’t collapse unless Brady gets hurt.

McDaniels and Caserio can go. Every single year we have to hear about them linked so some team or another. Just go. Start fresh with a new OC and new QB.

What is Thuneys trade value? anyone want to hazard a guess? Miami got a haul for Tunsil, albeit he's a tackle...

Hightower to stay ?.......I would want him to give some leadership to a group that seems to be floundering , (a young and inexperienced group) Bentley is not the answer

He's a free agent. No trade value. They're not going to tag him again.

The dream is over. He has to go.

Harrys 2021 salary increases by 40%. For what?
Talking about percentage increase is misleading because the numbers are so low. Fact is his salary next year is under $1.5 million. If you can suggest a way to bring in a replacement for less, I’d be interested in hearing it.... (but please don’t suggest the draft.... it would be foolish to think Belichick is even remotely capable of drafting a WR....)

Harrys 2020 salary is approximately 1 million. Hence the 40% increase for 2021. He produces next to nothing and is so slow a LB can cover him.

Braxton Berrios has better numbers in 2 starts and cost $750,000 this season. There are plenty of JAGS throughout the league that will play for Harry money and put up the same production. I use that term loosely in Harrys case.

Harry is a Bust. If the goal is to find the cheapest players regardless of output, then yes by all means bring Harry back.

Curran says it’s Gilmore, Hightower, Cannon, Hoyer, Guy, McDaniels(!), Thuney, Cam, Burkhead, Harry

For McDaniels only if a coaching opportunity comes along IMO. not sure if it will
Chung gone. Harry kept (cheap body). White FA to TB. Squirrel & High* retire. LaCosse or Izzo gone if not both given signing of an FA TE or 2.
I'd try hardest to keep Guy or Gilmore, whoever is most rational in their new contract or extension.

* Hope I'm wrong and the year away invigorates this CLUTCH needed player.

It's up to Gilmore, I guess. He's well worth his contract, but he'll want to change that salary, is what Curran's saying. If he wants another 8 million to get him over 15 (not counting dead money) in 2021, do they do it? I doubt it.

Would hate to see him go, but I fear Curran might be right here.

Do they want Thuney? If not that frees up almost $15M to sign Gilmore.

The only argument against Gilmore is his age which is valid so maybe BB trades him, but every team needs one shutdown corner because most teams depend on one star WR (a team can not afford 2 star WRs unless one of them is on a rookie contract). Gilmore's best days are behind him, but I think he is still a shutdown #1 corner for a few more years. I am not convinced JC Jackson is a shutdown #1 corner, actually doubt he is. #1 shutdown corners are very hard to find that is why BB traded for Talib, and signed Revis, Gilmore, etc. Those three guys were drafted higher than the Pats have drafted in years, so BB was stuck paying for the need. So I think he will continue to pay for a #1 corner. Maybe he trades Gilmore and signs a younger version of GIlmore with the money, either way I am sure BB is planning on paying for a #1 corner in 2021.

I also think he pays DMac and Hightower. Both are solid guys that can teach the new guys. Again their best years are behind them, but they are still solid and very smart players. BB only holds onto really smart players after the player gets older because the knowledge elevates the whole team.

I hope he pays Guy as well. The rest of the guys are interchangeable.

The tag is very much in play... He is a potential sign and trade...
That lowers his value. Big contract for one year and then the team needs to figure out what to do for him. I would have packages Thuney and Gilmore to the Bengals and tried to get their pick tbh

Does it? Sure. But a 2nd is better than a third round comp pic... And Gilmore is worth what? A 3rd maybe, mostly a 4th due to age/ injury at this point...

Jason McCourty.

His last contract was two years, ten million. Base salaries of $2 mil in 2019 and $2.65 this year, a signing bonus of $3.5 mil, and the rest in roster and workout bonuses.

He'll be turning 34 during next season's training camp and has career earnings of $54 mil. I can see him retiring rather than playing another year at a lower salary.

Biggest knock on Gilmores value to NE is the already 16m cap hit and the dead money on his current deal...

Just went on Spotrac to check what CBs are available as FAs in 2021 and I don't see anywhere close to a younger version of Gilmore out there. So if the Patriots want to replace Gilmore this year, they probably have to draft one of the top corners in this year's draft class (Caleb Farley? Patrick Surtain?).

Screwed the pooch not trading Thuney earlier this year. And the only way we get a comp pick for him is if we don’t sign someone of similar value. Disappointing offseason if that’s the case.

Braxton Berrios is under contract for 2021 so your statement here is completely irrelevant.

I am not saying Harry is the best bang for the buck. Even if we set aside the fact that he literally is working with the worst full-time starting QB in the NFL, I am sure there are plenty of guys doing more for less money right now. I am asking who you think you can replace him with for less money. He was drafted in the first round so while I agree he is a bust, there is something that Belichick saw in him.

I just don't see him being cut quite yet. I guess time will tell if I am right or wrong.

Fully agree. Time to blow up the roster.

We will not be contenders again next year so no need to hold onto guys like Edelman, Hightower, McCourtys, etc.
Edelman & Jason McCourty - agreed; Hightower & Devin McCourty - not yet...Those two are/were still playing at a starter on a Contender level, and while their cap hits are high we have Nobody in the building to replace them...
