It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Because they would be better options than the snot-nosed, Division 3-caliber, nepotism-hired sycophants currently in the building?Curran lost his source when Brady left. Now he just throws crap against the wall. I don’t know why people always want old players to come back and coach. My guess is most of the opt outs will retire. I think Edelman will leave/retire. I think/hope Guy and Jackson and Gilmore will be back.
You are asking for the trade value of a player not under contract. Are you suggesting again to franchise him and then hope that someone trades for him when he signs the tag in July. What is Thuneys trade value? anyone want to hazard a guess? Miami got a haul for Tunsil, albeit he's a tackle...
It's a hypothetical question... While he is a free agent, he is not unfettered... The Pats can and very well could tag him again... If he wants out, then why not have his agent work finding a new team / acceptable long term deal...You are asking for the trade value of a player not under contract. A second tag on Thuney would, I believe, cost them 120% of the first, so almost $18m.It's a hypothetical question... While he is a free agent, he is not unfettered... He's still under contract, so those are his only options anyway.I think hightower stays or retires personally.
If his agent can't find a sign/trade, then you pay him. To this team he is worth it. Is the best player on the team at this point. Then let him walk in y 3.A second tag on Thuney would, I believe, cost them 120% of the first, so almost $18m.
Now you're trying to trade an interior OL who's making, fully guaranteed, almost three million more than any other guard in the NFL - and Thuney's really good, but he's not the best guard in the NFL. And if no takers, you have to pay him every penny. $17.7+m.
No it doesn't...Deatrich Wise says ‘it kind of sucks’ to think this may be his last game with Patriots
Will this be Wise’s finale with the Patriots?patriotswire.usatoday.com
Why would his agent try? He would just sign the franchise after thee first couple of weeks of the season and collect his $18MIf his agent can't find a sign/trade, then you pay him. To this team he is worth it. Is the best player on the team at this point. Then let him walk in y 3.
Just went on Spotrac to check what CBs are available as FAs in 2021 and I don't see anywhere close to a younger version of Gilmore out there. So if the Patriots want to replace Gilmore this year, they probably have to draft one of the top corners in this year's draft class (Caleb Farley? Patrick Surtain?).
I was using Berrios as an cursory example to prove that replacing Harry for less is not as difficult as you make it when comparing 2020 numbers.Braxton Berrios is under contract for 2021 so your statement here is completely irrelevant.
I am not saying Harry is the best bang for the buck. Even if we set aside the fact that he literally is working with the worst full-time starting QB in the NFL, I am sure there are plenty of guys doing more for less money right now. I am asking who you think you can replace him with for less money. He was drafted in the first round so while I agree he is a bust, there is something that Belichick saw in him.
I just don't see him being cut quite yet. I guess time will tell if I am right or wrong.
And I am telling you that Braxton Berrios is not a free agent next year so it doesn't matter. What you are doing is using 20/20 hindsight to find a guy who outperformed Harry this past year for less money. Then when you find an example (and I am sure there are others), you talk about how "easy" it would be to replace Harry.I was using Berrios as an cursory example to prove that replacing Harry for less is not as difficult as you make it when comparing 2020 numbers.
My guess is cam is back next year as well on a similar contract maybe 8 million with limited guarantees . They might want to evaluate cam for a full off season and stidham over pre- season. So the qb will be either of these two unless Fitzpatrick or garopollo comes over. We might draft couple of lower round qbs if stidham is cut .
With the way the current team is constructed, the best bet to hit at playoff would be under cam and hoping cam becomes 50% of his original self . Its a risky gambit, but sadly I don't think Bill has that many options as well.
Mo Money? Why would his agent try? He would just sign the franchise after thee first couple of weeks of the season and collect his $18M
He's an older DB coming off an injury. If they do trade him, they're not going to get much.Trade Gilmore only if he wants to leave.
I like curran but this yr he has been all about advocating for brady in every article instead of being balanced. It has become quite irritating.Curran: These 10 Patriots might not be around in 2021
As the calendar flips to 2021, which Patriots might have reached the end of their run in Foxboro. Tom E. Curran runs down 10 men who might not be back next season.www.nbcsports.com
Curran says it’s Gilmore, Hightower, Cannon, Hoyer, Guy, McDaniels(!), Thuney, Cam, Burkhead, Harry
For McDaniels only if a coaching opportunity comes along IMO. not sure if it will
I think you get a first round pick from 27 to 32He's an older DB coming off an injury. If they do trade him, they're not going to get much.
