Before the matchup, Michael Holley wanted to write a column about how the Patriots could pull off the upset, but he simply couldn't picture it happening. That's when Belichick entered the picture.

On the "Huddle and Flow" podcast, Holley recalled a meeting with Belichick during Super Bowl week in which the Pats head coach convinced him that the upset was possible.

What Bill Belichick told Michael Holley before Super Bowl 36

Anyone who watched the regular season game knew we were very capable of beating them. We just lost the turnover battle in the regular season loss. In the sb we won the turnover battle. That was the difference
Smith scores instead of fumbling and maybe that's a 14 point swing in that game.

That was pretty sweet. Thanks.

Thanks.

I especially like the part where Bill says that Kurt Warner is not the QB of the SLR...Might explain why Brenda's husband has such a hair up his ass for Bill & the Pats organization...

I don’t think bill meant that as a slight to Kurt.

How would have the Philly super bowl been different if cooks could have picked up the 4 and 1 and not got hurt!
How would it have looked if they'd called Foles for not being on the LOS on their Trick play where he caught the TD pass?

Perhaps we would've been the better for it if Cookie hadn't played at all...

here's what I said to my die hard Patriots crew when we sat down to watch the game......"bust that bigmouthed chest pounding sky pointing MORON, 'Muh peepoos noam sain axe quesshuns fiddy time" Marshall Faulk....bust him in the mouth!!! Beat his ass all game and crack his goddamed braying jackazz jaw!". I DESPISE this rat ba$tard to this day. Punk.Liar. Jerkoff.MORON. He and his idiot "peepoos". Willie McG undressed him on national TV and showed the world what a bleeding vage he was...and still is.

I enjoyed this article. You might have written it. Haha.

That game convinced me that the Rams weren't as invincible as many would have us believe and that the Pats were better than their record, but Holly wasn't alone. I remember arguing with some of our own fans who would comment, "yeah, they might make it to the Superbowl but there's no way they beat the Rams." The Pats didn't lose another game after that Rams loss.

At first I got upset at the anti-Pats bs, but then I got to enjoy it... a lot.
I LOL at crybabies like Faulk, whose toughness has to be questioned, as is suggested in that article by Curran.
And how about the Raiders?!? This is a team whose motto for 50 years has been "if you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin" and they still cry about a perfectly legit rule that went against them 20 years ago. They should get rid of the eye patch logo and go with a man wearing a diaper. It suits them better.
How about the dopes from 2007 who cried about the Pats running up the score, like the NYFL was a Pop Warner league? They needed to find another sport, maybe badminton.
The spotlight on Bill for how he shook hands was another knee slapper.
The Asterjerks were a hoot too. Imagine calling for 3 SB titles to be asterisked because a HC misinterpreted a memo 6 years later? Or a petty HC calling for them for the same violation that led directly to his team's undefeated season?
And the crying that came from footballs turning cold and losing pressure? That may be the best.
It's all very enjoyable now.
