Bench Newton!

Hoyer had his defense playing lights out against the best offense in the league and was pissing it away and didn’t just have a boneheaded play, he cost the team points because he didn’t know the situation.

Yards are a stupid metric when in the last 4 weeks we went 2-2 and the 2 losses are when Cam threw for 119 and 365 yards and we won when we threw for 69 and 84. In fact the game he threw his highest was 397 vs Seattle which we lost.

This is not a passing team. We have real issues if we are over relying on passing
Newton costs his team points every week. What’s worse taking a sack or throwing a pathetic pick 6 on a screen when you literally see 2 yards away that you are throwing it directly to the defender?
Yards are a stupid metric? Moving the ball, gaining yards, is all pointless to you?
What is a good metric?
You have actually hit the nail on the head.
When this team doesn’t need a qb and wins despite him they win. When the qb needs to contribute they lose.
It’s not a passing team because the guy can’t pass. You have exactly identified the problem. We have a an who cannot pass. Your bizarre solution is play the guy who can’t pass and say passing the ball
Isn’t the problem because he can’t pass.

All wrong! Cam was semi-competent the first few games. His legs were fresh, arm was serviceable. But now, for whatever reason, it's preposterous to say Stid wouldn't give the team as good of a chance to win as an error-prone, slow and sluggish, hesitant and mopey Cam. And BB won't make a change, not because Cam is better, but because he's the most stubborn SOB on the planet and always has been. The whole football world can see skill and ability too. I've been religiously watching the NFL for 26 years, just because a coach makes a certain move, doesn't mean the opposite isn't better. They have tons of political reasons for certain actions - we got proof with the Kraft/Brady/Jimmy G issue.
You are talking about the guy who benched Bernie Kosar, who cuts veteran players he loves when they hit the wall, who has adapted every piece of his scheme consistently. He is probably the least stubborn coach in the nfl.
Not sure what you mean about Jimmy G, he did the right thing there too.

So you’ve given up defending your idiotic position I see.
I can only argue with someone who lacks introspection for so long. Let’s be real, you’ve been here before. It’s a pattern.

I made my point. I got new data and things changed after Cam got Covid and came back struggling. I don’t need to die on the hill of an opinion where the data changed. I’m not that stubborn and going to argue a preposterous point to feel better about myself.

Yes, when you are wrong, rather than admit it, attack the other guy. We have been here before, it’s what you always do.
Please explain how introspection makes you September plea to give newton a 30 million a year contract now before his price goes up correct. Please explain how when it is proven the guy sucks that the guy who said it all along lacks introspection and the guy who wanted to mortgage the franchise for him is a real genius.

Making up a pretend claim about why you are afraid to discuss a topic with me is your MO and once again you don’t disappoint.

I said I was wrong and changed my opinion. You went on an indulgent rant,

You are still defending him, jumped into a conversation I was having with another person and had nothing to offer but personal attacks.
That’s who you are. At least accept it. Every time you engage me it’s with personal attacks and then when I show you are wrong, again, you try to take the cyber moral high ground declare yourself better than me, lie that you will put me on ignore. Yet you don’t, you are just hiding from my responses which you are inept at dealing with. Ultimately not being too smart, you forget that you are pretending to have me on ignore and the whole cycle starts again. It’s probably about time to go back to your original POV about newton, make it about race, so you can try to dismiss people seeing how much he sucks as racist. Then you can tell all the poster who see through your bs that you are putting them on ignore because of your pretend moral superiority.

To be fair though, what can hoyer or Stidham do that would be worse than cam newton at this point? He barely can pass for 100 yards a game. Maybe his rushing TDs.

Like honestly, what's the worst that can happen? Stidham throws a pick six and some horrible throws? We've seen that from cam newton just last night.

Not sure what you mean about Jimmy G, he did the right thing there too.

In hindsight letting jimmy go for 2 years of brady was a poor decision. Or more the fact of letting Jimmy go and then not committing to Tom Brady all while not having a succession plan.

When we traded Jimmy I though "oh we are going all in on Tom until he's 45" instead he plays 2 more years and leaves. The whole Tom brady/Jimmy G situation has played out poorly

Time to bench him. He didn't work out. The likelihood winning 3 straight divisional games and making the playoffs is slim to none.

I want to see what Stidum has.

It's pretty clear that there was an agreement between Bill the Coach, Bill the GM, and Newton the quarterback...come here, sign my cheap *** contract offer for one year and you'll play 16 games barring injury. Newton gets his 16 games to try to look good and hopefully get another contract elsewhere and Bill the GM gets his cheap contract. And people don't forget, at the time he signed his contract, the NFL was seriously discussing 50% capacity league-wide, so Krafty Bob surely wanted Newton to put fannies in the seats, sell merch and hopefully provide some excitement in the post Brady era...
Your theory has merit.

Cam is doing the exact same thing in worse

The tank talk should have ended when they won four of their last five games.
The tank talk never should have started. Tanking is for losers.

Personally I would have benched Newton weeks ago, but I was always in the tank the season and get a QB of the future and restock for 2022.
If tanking is your preference then Can't Newton is your guy.

5/7, 27 yards, sacked 2 times, looked like a deer in headlights against a defense that had it's foot off the gas... and people think Stidham was great last night.
He is a rookie. Cam is a 10 year vet who still can’t recognize blitzes. That is unbelievable

Idk we got another ring with TB and Jimmy is currently dealing with yet another injury. And who knows what SFs plans are next year; they could get out from that contract and Jimmy could find his way back here at a cheaper price.

How can a guy who in 2015, his MVP season, threw five touchdown passes in a single game three times, and now its his total for most of a YEAR? The accuracy is off-the-charts bad. I don't know if he has a guy like Tom House to look at his mechanics, but they HAVE to be way way screwed up, if he isn't hurt. He is older, but not ancient.

I’d be curious to see Cam being used like taysom hill (pre Brees injury) as a gadget type player.

Some have speculated that Bill wants to make sure that Cam hits as many of his contract incentives as possible but the only additional incentives that he can hit are playing time bonuses, which only increase by 250K at each level (unless they make the playoffs and that went bye-bye last night).

So some have speculated that Bill wants to waste cap space playing a QB that sucks?

Been saying it since early on: Cam blows. He's done for, used up, clueless, slow, and full of it.

Stidham? I don't know. We should find out. That involves giving him a week's prep and putting him out there under a game plan devised with his particular skills in mind.

Does this make a win less likely? Maybe. Don't care.. A loss jumps you marginally up the draft hierarchy anyway, and this year in any case has been from nearly the start - at least for anybody able to look at the matter clearly - entirely about next year and upcoming years.

Get that glittery loser off the field. And tell WEEI to haul Wiggy off to the nuthouse asap.
