Bench Newton!

Why in the world would you play that piece of trash against Miami?
I would seriously consider benching him and going to a wildcat offense if he was the only QB we had.
This is the worst player to start 10+ games for the patriots in the belichick era.
Because the other two QBs are even worse. He still gives us the best chance to win.

If in these last 3 games the team wants to give the Dolphins and Bills a free pass to the playoffs and better playoff position, and to mess up the Jets chances to get Lawrence respectively, then benching Cam and playing Stidham or Hoyer is the way to go.

How could they be worse?
Newton is completely incompetent.
he has thrown for a combined 272 yards in THREE GAMES
We would have about an equal chance of winning if we played without a qb.

Playing cam is giving up.
There is no way Stidham or hoyer could be worse.

Does his running not count for anything? He’s
leading the league in QB rushing touchdowns.

Do you really think they are better with Hoyer or Stidham? I highly doubt they beat the Dolphins or Bills with Stidham. The Dolphins would get four turnovers easily.

Hoyer got benched for throwing for 130 yards in a half and making a bone head play.
newton has thrown for 272 in 3 games and makes a bonehead play at least every quarter.

You assume that you are having a rational conversation as opposed to a cherry picked one that is going to ignore huge chunks of unfortunate data.

7 carries 16 yards.
We would have everyone of those tds if we gave the ball to a run instead.

At least with a different QB we have a chance. Both have played better than newton in the amount of time they gave played this year.

Says the guy who wanted to extend newton at 30 million a year.

I am not one to point to general consensus of the masses as a reason why something is right or wrong, but there is general consensus here and only 2 to 3 posters smashing posting records in defense of the undefensible.

I've never seen such consensus on a topic on this board.

Cam beat the Dolphins in week 1 and had his team in position to at least tie the Bills. He was competitive against them. Hoyer and Stid would not be. Not only are they indeed worse but there's no point playing them. Neither will be the starter for this team. What would be the value of playing those guys? I don't see it. With Cam you can audition him for next year. You don't audition the other guys, they're probably on the way out the door.

The time to make a change was a few weeks ago, not now when the team's elimination is imminent. Bill didn't, and that speaks loud and clear.

With a different QB not named Hoyer or Stidham sure.

Hoyer had his defense playing lights out against the best offense in the league and was pissing it away and didn’t just have a boneheaded play, he cost the team points because he didn’t know the situation.

Yards are a stupid metric when in the last 4 weeks we went 2-2 and the 2 losses are when Cam threw for 119 and 365 yards and we won when we threw for 69 and 84. In fact the game he threw his highest was 397 vs Seattle which we lost.

This is not a passing team. We have real issues if we are over relying on passing

What is my position? Is it that Newton is good? No.

Do you want to attempt to justify Stidham starting besides a platitude about “he can’t be worse than Cam” when on average he has been

5/7, 27 yards, sacked 2 times, looked like a deer in headlights against a defense that had it's foot off the gas... and people think Stidham was great last night.

I am all for sitting Cam if we had an NFL caliber QB on this roster as an alternative. Unless Bill can find one on the street and sign him quickly - we don't.

When he was playing well the first few weeks and we all were high on him. I actually advocated for tanking fir a new QB well over a month ago. See unlike some people, I take the data I have and adjust my opinion to it, instead of adjusting the data to my opinion.

Someone said Stidham threw better passes than Cam....

All wrong! Cam was semi-competent the first few games. His legs were fresh, arm was serviceable. But now, for whatever reason, it's preposterous to say Stid wouldn't give the team as good of a chance to win as an error-prone, slow and sluggish, hesitant and mopey Cam. And BB won't make a change, not because Cam is better, but because he's the most stubborn SOB on the planet and always has been. The whole football world can see skill and ability too. I've been religiously watching the NFL for 26 years, just because a coach makes a certain move, doesn't mean the opposite isn't better. They have tons of political reasons for certain actions - we got proof with the Kraft/Brady/Jimmy G issue.

You have been wrong all along.
Tanking is ridiculous and if you ever played a competitive team sport you would know that.
You didn’t say pay him 30 mill a year if all goes well you said do it NOW before his price goes up because he will want more. No one could have been more wrong than you were.
Your argument appears to be that you were 100% wrong about newton but that makes you smart because you adjusted your opinion and I was 100% right about him but that makes me wrong because it took you longer to figure it out.
