Cam says Covid derailed the season

Cam is not making excuses. as bad as his play has been, he has be standup in his own assessment of his play and answering questions honestly and patiently as he can every time even to stupid questions like this .

people love to bag on him. He is saying that after covid the team has played like crap. What is untrue about ? He didnt say he fumbled because of covid.
But lets punch them regardless.

Who are these 2nd round corners who can't make the roster - Joejuan? He's on the roster and has played well in a crowded secondary.
Can't draft a "single" good receiver? Edelman ring a bell, perhaps?
Where did the cherry picking occur - can you point to that?

What about the other draft picks?
Thuney? Mason? Harris? Onwenu? The UDFAs - Jones? Jackson?

Belichick is far from perfect but these types of hyperbolic takes lacking any attention to detail or nuance are way off base.
they made a lot of attempts , AB, gordon, dorsett, patterson, sanu, cooks, bennett. None of them really stuck out long but some were part of winning the games . Bad evaluation ? Sure. But also need something to stick . none of them did.

Straw man.
I believe the Titans will debunk your comment.

The reality is EVERY football team has the same "hazzards" to deal with per the COVD19 issue this year.

It was either deal with it or cancel the season.

COVID did disrupt the team, having said that i wanna see guys play like their job is on the line, show something or be gone next year.

Few things:
1) Still scratching my head about Bill punting on "no free information" attitude... as if he's no longer bought into what he's preached. I don't know what it signals. I'm 10% "Epic Bill Mind-frak of some sort", 50% "Not a good look, Bill. Disappointed," 30% "Wow. Welp, he knows where we are and apparently silence at the podium is just pointless." 10% "Hey Cam let's be pretty damn dour, it'll get you out of the building with a shot at rebuilding your career, it'll get me a long look at Stidham. Just give me a minute to put away all sharp objects out of my office because damn."

2) Shlitz runs downhill. We're seeing Cam being border-line excusey, Bill being border-line excusey, etc. Well, we just came back to lose by a late whoopsee to the probable eventual division winner. So that doesn't fit. I know you don't get rings for "close," but getting that close, even if it's more heartbreaking than an out-of-reach loss... I am trying to grok it resulting in the comparative meltdown, by Pats terms (not on-field, the public comments.)

3) Can we make some noise? slim outside chance, but the best guess is no with this team. But definitely we can't if our own guys think we can't. They'll look to Bill and somewhat to Cam.

4) Maybe they get where COVID is going to be, not where it is right now, and that makes the COVID emphasis different in the building than for some fans. Dunno. They certainly had a big "not this year" contingent.

5) that Lawrence guy? LOL

And why did we have so many opt outs compared to other teams?

Our vets are fat and happy. They’ve won their rings. They weren’t motivated to play this year to the extent of other teams.
The vets are sick of playing for Coach Bill

I think we can make noise if we get in. We're not getting blown out. We're competitive. If thet can start winning NOW and go 9-7, we can play the sleeper role. Maybe upset a team. I'm not rooting for draft position yet.

Titans defense looks very bad lately and their fans are saying 5-6 is a possibility.

Words are meaningless. It’s about how you play not what you say.

Sure but when he answers questions , we bash him for making excuses when he actually isnt.Isnt that actually talking about what he is saying not how he is playing ? Why point out he is making excuses ? just call his play out, that is fair.

Who are you referring to with “we”. I’m saying that bashing over what he says is stupid.

not you, this thread in general . Sorry for the confusion.

Duke Dawson, Cyrus Jones and Jordan Richards ring any bell? Did any of them make a single dent of impact to this team? Other than dropping every punt he tried to return, that is? Those were second round draft picks I was referring to. If we knew we had a crowded secondary, then why waste second round picks on those guys?

We drafted ONE good receiver in 12 years and we are supposed to be proud of that? Find another team in the NFL that has been this bad at drafting receivers.

Thuney and Mason are good picks, I would give you that. Harris, Damien Harris? He's played like three games? He is hardly prime LeVeon from what i've seen so far so let's not act like we got a huge steal here man. Onwenu is a good pick, although it is still small sample size. My point is not that Belichick blew every single pick he had, but his hit rate has been pretty low, especially in round 1 and 2. Not sure why you think that's hyperbolic. Four good draft picks out of 60 players drafted in the last seven years is not a good record.

So.. every team that has had COVD19 has had their season derailed? Didn't hear about the entire NFC East being quarantined due to COVd19.
I would probably refrain from using the NFC east as an example.

My point is the NFC east really sucks, but I don't remember any of those teams having COVID.

On the flipside, the titans have had thier own issues with COVID, and seem to still be playing well.

The reality was everyone knew this season had a big question mark on how the season would play out since we have a NFL football season, but EVERY team pretty much started from day one on equal footing with each other because each team had the same issues to deal with starting with preseason.

Personally, and I may be in the minority, but it wouldn't of bothered me not to have a season until this whole mess was under control. What happens when the playoffs get here and the slim chance happens that a playoff team gets infected? There are just too many what if's. Playing this season is like dating a chick at work. You know it's a "no no" because the best thing that can happen is you end up marrying her and one of you leave that job, because if that doesn't happen, chances are it's going to get ugly.

Cam is who we thought that he was.

Losers blame external forces and Winners look internally and in the mirror.

to be fair, are we even in the Bills game without cam newton? sure he blew it. but cam giveth, came taketh away
