Gilmore’s House on the Market

It makes sense to trade him IMO. He's a fantastic player but CBs have a short shelf life compared to a few other positions. People thinking this will be a 1 year rebuilding process or that Cam has a chance to be the guy is probably in for a rude awakening. We have an old defense in a number of key positions and we will need 3-4 draft classes to replenish it. You can't do it all through FA. Not to mention getting that top tier QB in FA rarely happens.

So trade Gilmore for value. Hopefully let him go to a place he can be successful and thank him for being a professional and such a big part of our recent success. This team lacks young talent all around in many positions not just on offense but on defense too. If we can trade Gilmore for a few draft picks (maybe even a 1st rounder) I'm all for it.

Heard a caller on WEEI that Gilmore was on a yacht celebrating a "move".

Probably to Connecticut.

If we have 120 million in cap room in 2021, it makes no sense to give away Gilmore or Thuney for 3 quarters on a dollar

maybe he is celebrating an anticipated move to New Jersey to be reunited with old friend joe judge!

in Bill I trust in Bill I trust in Bill I trust... gameday "blow it up" theories looking more real...

class act but a ton of cap over 30 and we have JC Jackson perfectly Capable
Of the one spot and will get PAID

Thank you sir
I said then it’s the most Belichick thing ever.
Especially with JC Jackson emerging and needing paid.
Chris, I love ya brah, but you can’t celebrate until you cross that goal line or Beebe might getcha!!!

He's "old" in terms of CB. Realistically, what kind of draft pick are we going to get?

Thuney was HAD for a third. Koppen, Edelman, and Bailey even less. More darts = better chance at a bullseye.w

He's gone. As Curran stated in his article it's not a question of if, but when.

Maybe a low 2nd, high 3rd would be my guess.

He could be taking advantage of the current real estate market and just be selling at the top of market.

Getting a 2nd would be a steal imo for a CB entering his 30's.

I'm also agreeing with Bruschi on the idea of trading your best defensive player. If we do trade him on top of losing to the Bills, then it really will feel like this season is a wash.

“Yes, there’s an effect on Gilmore if he’s on the trade block,” said Bruschi. “There’s also an effect now on the entire locker room because if I’m on that defense I’m saying, ‘That’s our best guy over there and we’re thinking about getting rid of this guy?’ If I were Bill, I would try to give some type of reassurance to the guys that Steph [isn’t] going anywhere. That would help. But if he doesn’t and players can read the writing on the wall that we’re trying to get rid of guys, then this season is going to go down and go down quickly.”

Agree. I do think a low 2nd or a 3rd is possible as there will be a team or two who believes they are on the cusp of being a SB contender but need a cover CB.

2-4 is certainly a bad spot to be in and 2-5 would just about make the rest of this season all about personnel evaluation and building a foundation for 2021.

Probably. Whatever, he is as good as gone. The tanking will commence and thats that.
"Tanking" has such negative connotations. I prefer the more civilized "losing organically".......which can be characterized as:

A bounty of mid and late round seedlings, home grown, cultivated by one of three Belichicks, and deposited in the compost pile next to the fertile dung of 2nd round DBs

If we're gonna 'lose organically', we should do it consistently enough so we have at least a shot at one of the top QBs in the draft. If there's a season to do it, this is the season with Covid, players opting out, Brady leaving. At least we can still root for Brady to win a SB. Not saying i'm giving up but if the dominos were to fall as we're suggesting.
