I can understand this mentality a lot more than the outright Brady haters. I don’t think anyone is loving that he left and won’t be completely synonymous with the Patriots. At the same time, I can appreciate Brady for being Brady. What he’s doing now goes beyond the greatest dynasty and into a new realm involving longevity. Sure, athletes will play until this age more frequently now, but Brady will always be the trailblazer. One guy is going to be responsible for previously unimaginable heights in quarterbacking and winning (played in 9 Super Bowls!) and will also be responsible for previously unimaginable heights in long-term sustained excellence.

No different than seeing an ex have the time of her life with another guy, I guess.

But yes, he's playing really well right now and adding to what is already the best legacy in NFL history. Amazing what he's doing at the age of 43. I think Bill made a mistake in looking at his physical age in letting him go, rather than his playing age, which is probably 35 (or younger).

The Patriots Offense has some pretty bad metrics, including:
- 12 or fewer points in 4 of the last 6 total games
- 3 Straight Losses in which the offense put up 10, 12, 6 points respectively
- Dead last by a wide margin in TE team receptions with 7 total in 6 games. Pathetic.

I can't remember the last time this offense looked so bad. Probably before Brady's time or perhaps on McD's Broncos or Rams teams without Brady. I think it's time to pull the fire alarm and ask whether we have the right offensive coordinator. We haven't developed ANY wide receiver or tight end since O'Brien left in 2011. The only guy who developed was James White who by all accounts is an elite human being and probably developed himself. The OLinemen had Scar, but Scar is gone now.

If my options are: See Brady stay with the Pats while they continue to get worse and go no where or go to the Bucs where he has the weapons to potentially have an MVP season and a real shot at winning another superbowl... I'm taking the later. I'll always be a Pats fan, but let's be realistic, this team is probably to devoid of talent for even Brady to fix. Me too. I am really happy for Brady. I look forward to watching his offense every week. That has made this season bearable.

The offense would be mediocre instead of abysmal with Brady still here. He can only do so much with a bare cupboard. We may be pushing 4 wins at best, but this team didn't put itself in a position to be good with the offensive configuration. Jesus isn't saving the 2020 offense.

Before we get all misty-eyed about other "recent" offenses with Sad Tom, let's not forget last season's offense with the quarterback who knows all the answers to the test averaged a MIGHTY 17.8 ppg over the last 8 games. I said OFFENSE (that stat does not include 2 defensive TDs vs Cin). And I would really love to take out the 2 garbage time TDs vs Houston and the 2 or 3 trick play touchdowns they had in that span. If you take out those TDs, the Pats are probably a 16 ppg offense over the last 8 with Brady. This year is ****ing terrible, but so was last year's offense after they stopped playing Framingham State and Curry.

Hmmm, too bad we lost Randy Moss this off season. If only we had found a way to hold on to Deion Branch as well. Wait, they weren't on the team last year you say? Surely we didn't let Sanu walk out the door! What about Josh Gordon? Surely we extended Dorsett! What about Demayrius Thomas? Sigh, I'm all out of suggestions when it comes to what happened last year at receiver. At least Ben Watson provided a viable option at TE. Wait...

The only way was to cut Hightower, McCourty, etc. So you would basically have Brady with no receivers and no defense. Ultimately, we didn't have enough good young players on their rookie contracts to balance things out.

Right. Thank you. Really important points. So people who keep acting as if we chose to discard Brady, first of all Tom put up his own Brookline house on the market in August of 2018. Secondly, we would have had to have zero Devin McCourty, Hightower, Chung possibly, etc. The team would have been bad.

Seriously, the Pats need an overhaul and this season is just going to be a struggle to mediocrity. Wasted a pick on a kicker no one was tracking, wasted pick on Sanu, too much dead cap money, brought Cam in weeks before the season, can't practice, etc. There's no "fixing" this season...

Brady made the best move for his career. Go to a team absolutely LOADED on offense. It will be super fun to watch and see if he can will the team to the Superbowl this year. He's been on a mission to prove something.
