Obviously we need our starting OL to remain healthy to even have a chance.
Then, I want to see WR's that show ability to get open - Myers and Gunner should be playing with Byrd. (they know the playbook)
If/When we lose the next 2 games, they should put in Stidham and see what he can do the rest of the way.
I don't see BB giving Cam big $$ to stay here.

Don't see Stidham seeing the field this year barring injury to Cam or in mop up.

If Cam only had one practice, why did they play him? Why not play Stidham who, presumably, has been practicing with the team more than once in two weeks. Does Stidham suck that bad that they're willing to play a guy who's had one practice in three weeks?

Except Stidham didn't practice either.

Pats didn't practice the week after the Chiefs game because Gilmore tested positive. Then they moved the game back but the facility was closed until Thursday and then it was closed Friday again and I don't even know if they got a walkthrough in Saturday

The thing that worries me is our passing game just doesn't look right at all. There is really nothing outside of dump offs and a couple of schemed up plays that looks right consistently. Play action seems to be one of the few ways the passing game gets moving but all the underneath and intermediate stuff seems to be completely gone. Maybe Edelman is cooked or maybe just not having an NFL caliber TE is the reason that the old staples of our offense are gone but it just looks bad right now.

With Edelman in the state he is in:

55.6% catch rate
3rd in snaps
31.5 passer rating when targeted since week 3
87th graded WR out of 93 (PFF)

They have inarguably the 31st pass catchers in the NFL. Their hope is a healthy OL can make them respectable. Not ideal though.

We started Hoyer who stinks over Stidham two weeks ago. At this point, let’s just acknowledge that of Stidham didn’t have a Pats jersey nobody here would know who he was. The coaches don’t believe in him and he has been pedestrian every time he hit the field.

This is why I think it’s funny when people are hesitant to extend Cam. We don’t have an answer at QB besides him. We will waste draft capital searching for one for years.

I get that for people who work for questionable entities like "CLNS Media" it is a race for clicks and ad money but I find it absurd to suggest someone run a wrong route based on broadcast copy. Like you are saying at least wait those 2-3 days until the A22 becomes available and you can clearly see what is happening.

Funny you say that. My response to his was going to be a lot more critical.

What makes this a tough throw is the fact that the Broncos are bringing the house with a 7 men blitz. What makes it even tougher yesterday was a patchwork OL and a QB who lost about 3 weeks of practice time.

If that is an easy pass by NFL QB standards then Jesus was this Brady dude a dud most of the time because his deep attempts were consistently overthrown to similarly open WRs.

Cam had time and space. He should be able to make that throw.

The long ball wasn't always Brady's strong suit as a passer. Cam can make that throw. Without placing blame, my point is that practice time plays a huge role in timing and Cam's timing with the receivers was off.

Edelman looks completed dejected. Maybe its his knee, maybe this sucky offense. But he looks checked out.

My prediction.. he’s in Tampa this time next year.

At this point if Newton put on Hoyer's jersey and slouched(a lot) we would be calling for him to be benched.

He has 1/4 games with more than 160 yards passing. You want to pay $30m/year for that?

Cam might have to temper his contract expectations for next year. That might help BB lean towards an extension.

Cam didn't practice for 2 weeks. How many times do we make a big deal out of coaches resting their players at the end of the season only to see them look rusty in their first playoff game? It's the same thing, except here Cam didn't even practice....

Eh. Let's see the rest of the season play out before offering Cam anything.

You can’t win in this league consistently without a QB. Cam is struggling because of what he is working with. Just like Brady at the end of last year. We got a preview in KC what this team is with a mediocre QB with no skills. Unless we lose out, we aren’t getting a first round QB. So we will be rolling dice in the draft.

Yeah sign Cam. He’s still clearly the best thing we have on offense and someone we can trust when we get better talent

Maybe. Risk is if he plays really well Pats will probably have to be taken to the cleaners if they want to be competitive in 2021.

Dearth of weapons and a QB that is maybe 60% what he was in 2015, this passing offense has a very low ceiling, but thats what we signed up for with Cam. Also, I dont think it's fair to point to the Seattle game and say "look, we can be good" when they lost two safeties in that game and seattle may have the worst defense in the league. The stars aligned for us to have a bad passing game this year.
