Pats defense has been pretty decent. If we kept Brady and surrounded him with some competence and a legit weapon we’d be contenders this season. What a shame. At least Brady will be in contention so good for him.
I agree .But i think brady needed a change of scenery and i dont think he it wouldve worked too long. Dont think he has the patience or time anymore to work with younger players .So unless the pats got someone like julio jones or mike evans etc, this yr it wouldve made a difference .And that too was dependent on brady staying and the cap impact of that. Last yr they tried - they signed brown, they had gordon. things were great in week 2. It all fell apart. After that brady didnt have the patience to work with rookies and UDFA and rebuild the offense for the next two yrs like we have done in the past and I dont blame him for that.

Not talking about today's game. Just the general theme of this thread. Everytime brady plays well BB fd up. When brady plays bad, brady is avg . Brady wasnt staying with the pats this yr and he knew it the beginning of last season. Just need to move past that and give both the people the credit to making things special and for breaking it up. Cant clap with one hand and justify one person as the reason for brady leaving the pats.

Yes Pats really fcked up the negotiation right after the SB win. I blame BB and Kraft for this mess. And I believe it was more BB than Kraft. At this stage I am ready for a 4-12 season and egg on BB’s face forcing Kraft to either fire BB or at least remove GM duties. BB has been riding on Brady’s successes long enough. It was Brady throwing the frickin ball under pressure at last minutes of games with tight spirals into tight windows not BB.

Lawrence Guy is in his 10th season and Mason is in his 6th.
Thuney and Wise were in the 2016 draft class, so they're entering their 5th season.

More age there than you're giving them credit for.

Well, definitely wrong on Guy. Mason is still in his prime though, has several more years.

I still see this as a very solid core, especially since we're not tied to any big contracts.

I agree but I’ve really only seen a couple people trashing Bill while I’ve seen many people openly rooting for Brady to fail. First and foremost I’m a Patriots fan but unless somehow Bill miraculously gets this team to the Super Bowl nothing the Bucs do have any real affect on us so why not root for Gronk and Brady?

Shaq Mason is 27. Probably entering his prime.

If Brady was here, his amazing play would cover for our other deficiencies, like it has for 2 decades.

You mean like 2nd half of last year? Apologies if I missed the sarcasm.

So BB f'ed by not offering brady the money or not surrounding him with weapons ? Because under our cap situation i dont think both wouldve worked. They might have given brady 2yr 50 mil but would be okay working without gronk, an ageing edelman and a some rookie wideouts? breaking the bank on on side of the ball ha snever been the pats philosophy, for better or worse. Again, if josh gordon and antonio brown had stayed with the pats all season last yr who knows how things turn out. instead in the middle of the season brady is working with meyers and harry and all . This inspite of the fact he knew last yr beginning was his last in NE.

Don’t let Kraft’s general public persona fool you. Contract negotiations with Brady have always been between Kraft and BB. To a certain extent Kraft has let BB play the bad cop role to his good cop, but the point is they’re generally in this together. If Kraft didn’t see eye to eye with BB on salary commitment issues, he would never have hired him to begin with. That was one of the things that really struck Kraft about BB when he fit’s got to know him.

Kraft was hesitant to give Brady guaranteed big money at his age. Not just Belichick, but Kraft.

Kraft needed to save that money for early bird special rub-and-tugs at seedy Palm Beach County strip malls. Nobody quite has the grip that Lo Pan has.

Gronk is having a day

Breaking news, Gronk is back and Brady is the GOAT!

This is has turned into a borderline clinic.

Gronk will do 100 yards today.
That 33 yard seam route was like a dagger to the heart.

BB has always given up on players a year before they become more ineffective rather than a year late. That has always been BB’s blueprint. Brady is an anomaly. You can’t say Brady made a bad decision, and you can’t say BB did for not pushing for his re-signing. You also can’t blame BB this year. This was supposed to be a bridge year. It just so happens that QB is the most important position on the team. Pray for Dak next year.
