In fairness, they're still playing the same long game they were playing in something like 2005 or 2006 when I first found Patsfans.com. That is a patient commitment to excellence unrivalled outside the plays of Samuel Beckett and the Mayan long count calendar.

On the one hand, the guy some Jets fans wished they'd hired as coach is now 1-3 coaching the Cowboys, which is embarrassing. On the other hand, the Cowboys have scored 17, 40, 31, and 38 points in their four games, and I think Jets fans would have taken that in a heartbeat.

A Jets fan on their forum noted that of the Jets TDs this year, only one of them came from the design of the offense, a 2 yard run in deep garbage time. Everything else was because of an odd occurrence or outstanding individual effort making something from nothing. The 46 yard Darnold run, two times Darnold escaped a sack, scrambled around, and found Berrios, a defensive score, and a nothing WR screen that Jamison Crowder turned into a long TD by avoiding multiple tacklers. Other than the garbage time run, there has yet to be one TD scored because the offense executed an Adam Gase designed play as intended.

Good time to check in on that 2018 draft class, the one where the Jets declared a new dynasty after they did their usual sucking to land their “franchise QB”. They immediately compared Darnold to generational prospects like Manning and Luck despite that he disappointed during his only full college season at USC.

The Jets were infatuated with this strange, block shaped QB who had been hyped up after a flash in the pan sophomore season finish, while other teams quickly realized his accuracy and pocket aware were terrible, while there were more athletic prospects to draft for projects.

• Lamar Jackson is already a unanimous MVP winner and has a 22-6 record. Ravens are 3-1.

• Josh Allen is currently balling out as an AFC Player of the Month and has showed shockingly good improvement on his accuracy and decision making. Prwised for leadership since day one. Bills are 4-0.

• Baker Mayfield is rebounding from a down sophomore season and is showing more awareness of defenses. Browns are 3-1.

• SaM dArNoLd...ummm...what in the actual **** is this? He...well...has occasionally done well in garbage time against backup scrubs and a soft prevent defense. If you subtract his his picks sixes (two) from his touchdown passes (three), he has one net touchdown pass. Jets are 0-4.

I'm so sad for Damien Woody that he couldn't overcome his upbringing apparently and has become Mr. Angry Jets Alumni on social media. He could easily have taken the opportunity that fate afforded him and become an honored ex-Pats player of the Dynasty after his playing career. Instead he's the guy who (rightly) *****es about the Jets' stupidity, taking every misstep very personally. It just goes to show that fandom is never a choice... until the day they come up with a cure for being a Jets fan.
