Cam Newton Tests Positive; Out for KC game

He could have caught it from someone on the Raiders last Sunday. That's as likely as anything.

Being the first to test positive doesn't mean you were the first to be infected among the 90+ Pats players, coaches, and support staff. You can catch it on Sunday and it doesn't show on a test till Friday. Anyone following the Trump saga knows that.

No Raiders have tested positive.

Highly unlikely that Cam tested positive before the person that gave it to him a WEEK ago.

Who popped + for KC???? And who leaked Newton's test???? Media sucks
It is quite remarkable that Cam's name came out right away, and yet we still have none of the names of the five positive players on TEN.

I'm not sure how this happened.

Boy, the TEN outbreak seems like a year ago, given what is happening now.

Negative tests are tricky to interpret in part because of the issue of timing. After people are exposed to the coronavirus, they incubate it for several days before testing positive or showing symptoms. In a systematic review of seven studies published in May, researchers at Johns Hopkins University analyzed how long this process typically takes. They found that the most widely used test, called a P.C.R. test, was most likely to come back positive eight days after an exposure to the virus, which tended to coincide with a person’s third day of symptoms. Still, even on this ideal day, the tests came back negative on average in 20 percent of people who later tested positive.

I don't think doctors know that once you get it, if it means you're protected. It could be more like the flu where you just get it over and over again (with the additional chance of...dying).

.
There hasn't been one case, world wide yet, of a person being infected a second time. I would say the odds are pretty good for the rest of the season him being fine.

While the NFL has it's own protocol, you're forgetting that Massachusetts has set protocols as well. I can see someone in that Government trying to make an example out of a Football player.

I think or know I had COVID-19, and I had symptoms
You can be around others after:

  • 10 days since symptoms first appeared and
  • 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and
  • Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving*
*Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation

Most people do not require testing to decide when they can be around others; however, if your healthcare provider recommends testing, they will let you know when you can resume being around others based on your test results.

Note that these recommendations do notapply to persons with severe COVID-19 or with severely weakened immune systems (immunocompromised). These persons should follow the guidance below for “I was severely ill with COVID-19 or have a severely weakened immune system (immunocompromised) due to a health condition or medication. When can I be around others?”

I tested positive for COVID-19 but had no symptoms
If you continue to have no symptoms, you can be with others after 10 days have passed since you had a positive viral test for COVID-19. Most people do not require testing to decide when they can be around others; however, if your healthcare provider recommends testing, they will let you know when you can resume being around others based on your test results.

If you develop symptoms after testing positive, follow the guidance above for “I think or know I had COVID-19, and I had symptoms.”

Correct. Been numerous people around the world who have got it a 2nd time already..

"Numerous" == a handful. Try and find a count online of reinfection cases. As I quoted earlier, reinfection is apparently "very, very rare".

So we are in the middle of a pandemic, these guys are flying all over the country, and they're grabbing spitting sweating bleeding on each other and covid is starting to popup? Shocking.

I may be in the minority but I said since day one having the season is completely irresponsible.
What is irresponsible is shutting down the entire country, and destroying the economy for a disease that hurts the elderly and is less dangerous to the under 40 population then the flu is. Protect the elderly and let the rest of the country get back to normal. Oh, California just passed Sweden in deaths per million from covid. How is that lockdown with masks working????

Selfish people do selfish things.

So this is where we are at as a society... Talk about disgusting.

Like I said, we're a bunch of overgrown children pretending we aren't. Unless you've been following Cam around for 2 weeks, you have no basis for your comment, and until proven otherwise, DEAD WRONG. You are victim blaming FFS.

The fact that people are using politics and identitarianism to decide whether someone gets empathy or apathy if they get sick from a global pandemic is abhorrent and pathetic. A vast majority of people seriously need to rethink their lives.

Or you test negative for the disease.

Holy sh**. Get well Cam, and hope others don't get it.

There have actually been none. Originally a few Koreans were thought to have caught it a second time, but the tests were found to be faulty and they actually didn't.

Good, point, that's the first thing that came across my mind when I heard it..obviously the whole team is going to need to be tested asap.

Please god no stidham

Scam Newton am I right, guys? LOLLLLL.

That seems.. odd. Rapid testing shouldn’t take that long.
I assume they collect all the samples and then send them out to the laboratory, so there has to be some lag regardless.

So if Cam took the test on Friday, it is most likely he caught it eight days earlier so last Thursday and only felt symptoms this Tuesday.

With the doom and gloom in this thread, I bet 75% of Patsfans posters thought the world was gonna end on Y2K...if they were even walking yet...

Just as a FYI for everyone who thinks you can't get into the facility if you are positive because of testing.
