I guess the Saints whooped your teams ass, probably more likely to go to the superbowl, although they also have a really old qb, hopefully he won't be dinged up by season's end.

Ah. So you are a Saints fan. I thought so. Explains the level of anger here. I know it is difficult to see Brees on the decline even though he is two years younger than Brady but coming to a Pats forum and lurking on this thread is kinda sad.

The Bucs have a lot of potential, but potential doesn’t mean much. I don’t see anyone saying the Bucs are awesome at this point, but based on the team‘s overall roster and the state of the NFC, Brady’s decision makes more and more sense. What do you specifically want to discuss? Seems like a lot of Brady’s current level of play, the Bucs offense, and the Bucs overall chances are being discussed here.

It seems like you’re tying to pick a fight. This thread is stupid, in your opinion, and you’ve said numerous times that you don’t care about the Bucs or Brady. So why do you post here?
This thread was supposed to be about Tom and Rob. Fine, especially once they both arrived in Tampa. It is on the main board and I read most of the posts here. When I posted some fairly benign comments about Tom and the team I was immediately attacked, much like a patriots fan would be on gang green, of course without the profanity lace tirades, but still, you can't have it both ways. You want this thread on the main board because you are too lazy to click that extra button to go to the nfl forum that is fine, just expect people who either aren't fans of the bucs or happy that Brady decided to go elsewhere to prove that mean old BB wrong to call some of the assertions out.

No, it didn't. That's just what you all are trying to say now because all other arguments have failed. The thread title is clear. I posted what information I could find at the time during the dead spot of the off season. The roster and some of the other stuff I felt were relevant because they impact Brady obviously; Brady and Gronk are both part of the 53 last I checked. As more information specific to Brady became obtainable, I posted it and continue to do so. As information not specifically about Brady but still relevant to him, like one of his primary offensive weapons missing time for example, becomes available, I'll post it as well. Does the overall record not have something to do with Brady and Gronk? As for other things, I cannot control if other people post other sorts of things about the Bucs.

Anyone who fails or is simply refusing to use deductive reasoning as to the fact that this thread exists because of Brady regardless of what is specifically in the OP, well, that's your dysfunction, not mine or the thread's. The mods saw the OP and decided to allow it. What does that tell you about its validity?

Of course it did.

This isn't exclusively a Tom Brady/Rob Gronkowski thread; it's a Tampa Bay Buccaneers thread, and the discussions therein have not been limited to only Tom/Gronk - that's an objective fact. Players not named Tom/Gronk have been discussed here. That's an objective fact.

Are some folks irrationally upset over the existence of this thread? Yeah, I guess. Are some folks also irrationally upset because others have stated that a thread about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should be moved to a non-Patriots subforum? Yes.

As far as I can tell, this thread only exists because of Tom Brady - end all be all. But this thread contains discussions that extend well beyond Tom Brady. In my opinion this thread should be moved to the NFL subforum. Am I going to lose sleep over the fact that it won't be? No.

All that said, I can assure you that the sniping and toxicity in this thread is not limited to one side.

Hmm, no a patriots fan, growing up we always watched the giants too, so I used to like them too when I was a kid a long long time ago, they were always the nfc game on tv back when there were 4 channels. When we lost to them in the superbowl I stopped liking them. I never minded Brees, so I guess I don't mind the Saints, but I don't really follow any teams anymore other than the patriots.

I don't really follow any teams anymore other than the patriots.

You follow the Bucs as well, right?

Are we supposed to take your opinion about the Bucs seriously or not? It seems you want to have it both ways. You claim you don’t care and don’t follow the Bucs/Brady and then follow up that you know so much about them and that everyone else is a biased cheerleader.

The National Football League today announced that Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr. was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for September. Dating back to the 2019 NFL season, a Buccaneers player has now won the award in three consecutive months, after linebacker Devin White won back-to-back honors in November and December of 2019.

Over three games in the month of September, Winfield Jr. racked up 23 tackles (one for loss), including 15 solo tackles, three quarterback hits, 2.0 sacks, two passes defensed and one forced fumble. Among all NFL rookies, Winfield Jr. ranks second in tackles and sacks, tied for the lead in forced fumbles and tied for fourth in passes defensed.

After recording a sack in each of the past two games, the Minnesota product became the first rookie defensive back in the NFL to post a sack in consecutive games since Derwin James in 2018. The 2.0 sacks through three games are tied for the most by any defensive back in the NFL this season, along with Jamal Adams, Mike Hilton and Marcus Maye. In addition, his 2.0 sacks are tied for the most by any NFL rookie defensive back through three games, dating back to at least 1982 when sacks became an official statistic. Winfield’s 23 tackles are tied for the most by a Buccaneers player through his first three career games since 2000, joining Kwon Alexander (2015).

Winfield Jr. becomes the fourth Buccaneers player, and first defensive back, to earn NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month honors, joining Lavonte David (2012), Noah Spence (2016) and Devin White (2019, twice).

The Woodlands, Texas, native is part of a defense that ranks fourth in the NFL in yards allowed (308.0 per game), third in rushing yards allowed (70.3 per game), and tied for seventh in points allowed per game (20.3), while tying for the third-most sacks in the NFL (12.0) and the second most tackles for loss (24).

Mike Evans isn’t going to allow the absence of fellow receiver Chris Godwin to be an excuse for a lack of offensive production. He knows - and wants to make sure his teammates know - that other guys have to be able to fill the void for the next few weeks until Godwin is able to return.

When speaking with the media on Wednesday, Evans was blunt and to the point;

“They have no choice but to step up. Obviously, missing Chris – one of the best receivers in the league – having him down is definitely going to hurt. But, guys have to step up. There’s a lot of injuries in this league right now, so guys are just going to have to step up. We’re paid professionals and that’s our job to do that.”

Scotty Miller has done a solid job through the first three weeks of the season and it appears as though there’s a chance the Bucs will get Justin Watson back this week after he missed the Broncos game with a shoulder injury.

Now, Miller did miss practice on Wednesday with the injury he had last week so it may just be a rest/maintenance day for him to ensure he’s fresh on Sunday.

The other players to look to are the tight ends. Both O.J. Howard and Rob Gronkowski had good games against the Broncos and it appears the Tom Brady/Gronk connection is beginning to get back into rhythm. That will need to continue against the Chargers this week with the Bucs missing such a key member of their offense.

The National Football League today announced that Tampa Bay Buccaneers inside linebacker Lavonte David was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September.

Over three games in the month of September, David tallied 24 tackles (two for loss), two passes defensed, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Through Week 3, David stands as the only player in the NFL with at least 20 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble. Among NFL linebackers, David is tied for the lead in interceptions and tied for fifth in passes defensed.

In the Week 3 win vs. the Denver Broncos, David surpassed five-time Pro Bowl, two-time All-Pro linebacker Hardy Nickerson (1,028) for the third-most tackles in franchise history (1,030), and now trails only Derrick Brooks (2,198) and Rondé Barber (1,428). He is one of just two players in NFL history with 1,000-or-more tackles, 20.0-plus sacks and 10-or-more interceptions through his first eight career seasons, along with Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis.

Since entering the league in 2012, David ranks first in solo tackles (738), first in fumble recoveries (15), third in total tackles (1,030), third in tackles for loss (118) and tied for fifth in forced fumbles (22). Among all linebackers since 2012, David ranks tied for second with 12 interceptions and fourth with 47 passes defensed.

The Nebraska product becomes the sixth Buccaneers player, and third linebacker, to earn NFC Defensive Player of the Month honors, joining Shaquil Barrett, Derrick Brooks, Simeon Rice, Barrett Ruud and Warren Sapp.

David is part of a defense that ranks fourth in the NFL in yards allowed (308.0 per game), third in rushing yards allowed (70.3 per game), and tied for seventh in points allowed per game (20.3), while tying for the third-most sacks in the NFL (12.0) and the second most tackles for loss (24).

David has been a defensive captain for Tampa Bay in seven consecutive seasons (2014-20) and also serves as a national spokesperson and ambassador for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers already have one of the NFL’s most underrated defenders in linebacker Lavonte David, but do they also have the most underrated offensive lineman in the league?

Ever since the Bucs traded up for a guard from Hobart College in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Ali Marpet has quietly been one of the league’s best players at his position. Despite not making the Pro Bowl or receiving All-Pro honors yet in his career, those who pay close attention to the game know that Marpet is as good as it gets when it comes to interior line play.

Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday, when asked where Marpet ranks at his position in the league today. “I don’t know who’s playing any better. I haven’t seen them all play, but obviously he is playing and grading out at a very high level. I would say he’s in the top five for sure, yes.”

Through the first three weeks of the 2020 season, Marpet is the highest-graded player at his position, according to Pro Football Focus:

He may be underrated to some, but Marpet’s value is well known to his coaches and teammates, as well as his opponents.

The guys who don't want the thread on the main board can't stop trolling in the thread, as they try to get the thread moved or shut down. Perhaps, given the way this place is currently moderated, it's time for the mods to make it so such trolling cannot continue by banning those trolls from the thread.

Or move this to the NFL board where it belongs.

Good idea to me.

Oh, so you have to "follow" the bucs to post on this thread, you can't just have been a Brady fan. Got it. I thought this was a patriots forum, and this thread was allowed on the main board because it was about how Tom and Gronk were doing.

I guess if I really wanted to "follow" the bucs I would probably go to a bucs forum to discuss them.

Oh Deus, you guys should just go play on the NFL forum and leave us patriots fans to our own little place where we can talk about patriots stuff without being bothered by you Bucs fans.

My guess is the mods are staying clear of this because they know it doesn't really belong on the main board, but other than some people being a little annoyed on both sides they don't really care enough to do anything about it. Whatever they do at this point will piss people off even more.

Because this is a ****ing patriots forum and this thread is in the Patriots forum, that is why people who don't really care about the Bucs are posting here. If you like the bucs go to their forum. If you want to talk about Brady that is up to you.

Obviously not a bright lad. If someone posts that the bucs are the greatest team in the nfc on offense and defense, and I post why don't you wait until they actually beat someone good, that is a legitimate football discussion. That is a discussion we would be and are having about the patriots right now, on the Patriots forum. If you want this to be a spluge fest about Brady then talk about him. If you want this to be a football discussion about the bucs, which it is, then have at it. Right now they haven't beaten anyone, and until they do, I don't know how good they are, and how well they would weather an injury to Brady. Which was what this current discussion was about.

You go play in other threads and leave this one where people can talk about the stuff this thread is about. And calling people Bucs fans because they're following Brady is even more foolish than your normal posting.

I've got some shocking news for you:

Titans Covid positives, first outbreak

2020 Jets/JEST/Jete Suck thread

NFL Free Agency/Trade Rumors:

OT: Lamar/Mahomes the next Brady/Manning rivalry

OT: Wild thought about Trevor Lawrence.

Gostkowski

are all threads on page one of the main board. You should go troll all of those.

Yes a pretty low bar, I agree. However, even you must agree, this thread is bound to create a lot of friction on this board. A lot of patriots fans are upset that Tom left, and that Gronk came out of retirement to play for the bucs, when his presence last year might well have been the difference between a 1st round loss and a deep playoff run. It started out as a discussion about that, and now it has really morphed into a discussion about the bucs as a team, which there is a place created specifically on this board for. When the people who are upset with Tom and Gronk see this thread every time they look at the "patriots board" they are annoyed even more that Brady left and it creates friction. There is no real reason this can't be moved to the place specifically designed for it, other than a few of you either don't want to have it moved, or enjoy rubbing the other sides noses in the fact that he is playing on another team now.

Of course it did.

Respect. Of course it includes other things because there are always going to be other guys on the field that impact Tom and Gronk, but that wasn't entirelyyour premise to which I responded. And at the time I started the thread, I could only post what was available to post on the internet. I did only that. I didn't cherry pick or specifically look for Bucs only content (my team will forever be NE). Furthermore, there'sfar more exclusively Brady content than general Tampa Bay content. Gronk, I'm not so sure to be honest. But this is a thread that exists because of Tom Brady alone. It is an objective fact that people are irrationally upset about thr thread... nothing subjective or opinion there. And it's just ridiculous. Nothing in life, short of an actual life or death situation, is ever that serious.

And I never said the sniping and toxicity goes one way. But I'm sure we can agree that it wouldn't exist or there'd be less of it if people who disagree with the thread didn't feel the need to state it on every page.l, especially when it's the same people.

I got no problem with people who want to debate or aren't overly trolling, like you for example. I feel you've made some very fair and well thought posts. That healthy for any thread. My problem is with the people spewing nonsensical things. Of course there will be stuff coming from the other side when you have people trolling. That's just human nature. If the trolling stops or is reduced, the toxicity levels will drastically drop.
