I wouldn't be shocked if they put a claim in on Ogunbowale, especially if Harris is going to IR and Miller need more time before he is ready for the 53. Special-teams stud who also has talent as a 3rd down back. 35 catches last year.

Is Hoyer's talent on the scout team emulating the opposing weekly QB which is so important to a young learning Defense the reason they kept 3 QB's?

Or is it only until Stid is completely healthy?

I don't know the team's reasoning but, given the additional P.S. slots, and the potential for the Wuhan death flu to take a QB out for a couple of weeks, this seems like a great year to carry 3-4 QBs.

Looking at who they cut and who they kept...I don't know if this is the least talented team I've seen the Pats field in the BB era, but it's certainly the most unproven team. Quite the youth movement.

Agreed. We have no idea - lots of new faces. A large amount under the Cap next year with the young ones more experienced. It will be interesting to see what happens this year and next.

We have a decent offensive line and hopefully a qb that can make some plays.

on defense, we have the best secondary in the league.

we do have some holes in the front seven and in the skill positions.

I think bb can work winders with that.

Yes they could use more beef upfront. This wr unit won’t scare nobody. They would need guys like harry to show up finally and gunner to do well.
I didn't mean scary in a good way.

I'm going with 8-8, if they play the full season.

There is Newton not finishing a season healthy since 2015 and COVID going on. I think there is value this year in keeping 3.

For the reasons you mention, I would've been shocked if all 3 didn't make the team personally. It'll also be good to keep developing Stidham and have Hoyer doing all the things Brady and Bill have praised him for repeatedly over the years.

If things fall a certain way I would not be shocked if we end up with Stidham on IR and Rosen on the roster. Why not get an extended look at two QBs (Newton as the expensive vet in his prime and Rosen as a project in practice) and keep all options open for next year.

Love this idea.
Honestly us, Tampa and Pittsburgh are his best destinations throw in Jacksonville.
But honestly being with Fisch again maybe a comfort that puts us over other options.
Combine that with Cam on a 1 yr contact and Stidham being a question mark and this is a great destination.
Also learning from Belichick and McDaniels has to be priceless for a QB.

I don't know, that feels like shooting yourself in the foot a little bit... I can see how putting Stidham on IR would stunt his development. You could always reactivate him during the season but still.

The 2001 team was named preseason by Joel Buschbaum -- the original draftnik, and a brilliant guy -- as the least talented team in the NFL.

If a year of practices with BB and McD (not to mention TB12) were priceless, shouldn't Stidham have shown us more in this training camp?

Mike Reiss's piece today showed some rare skepticism on his part directed at Stidham:

3. Stidham's slide: Newton's ascendancy coincided with Jarrett Stidham slipping down the depth chart, to the point that if Newton suffered an injury, it might be veteran Brian Hoyer getting the call. Stidham can make all the throws, and might have the best natural arm of the group, but he never generated momentum in camp. His visit to a Boston hospital after the fourth practice of camp, where tests on his leg were negative, changed the trajectory of the quarterback snapshot. For 3-4 months this offseason, Stidham was viewed as the possible heir apparent to Tom Brady, but one could make a case there are actually more questions now about him possibly elevating to that spot than before camp began.

I've read similar "meh" commentary about Rosen.
