Joejuan Williams moving to safety

Yes.

And?
He’s been an amazing safety now for 6-7 years.

Maybe I misread the context of how you were saying that but I don’t think there’s any shame in a guy moving over to the safety position if he can excel at that spot.

He’s a matchup DB, think of Brandon Browner. Big WRs, Move TEs, think he will be a good player he’s just behind the best secondary in the league

work the db's until you find the place they fit best... then use them... as long as a guy is useful, they shouldn't be described as a bust...

I hope he becomes the greatest NFL safety in league history. That's not the point, though.

If he doesn't make it at S, he's got a real problem.

He's great in man to man against bigger receivers. He should play boundary corner and bump in to cover tight ends. He shouldn't be a full time safety imo.

Agreed, he is best used moving around as a matchup guy.

So, a failure at CB, then, right? I mean, we can acknowledge that, can't we?

How can he be a "bust" at CB when the Patriots never intended him to play there?? Their intent was always to move him to Safety.

So, rather than just make a simple acknowledgement, you went off and got ridiculous. And the notion that I'm a "usual suspect" with regards to negative spin is even more ridiculous.

Thanks for making my point for me.

He was being facetious.. Right over your head..

No. You're "Mister I'm Never Wrong" even when you're wrong. You go out of your way to spin things all the time. It's laughable..

That's the role many speculated he'd have when he was drafted. With how many good TEs are in the league now he would be a pretty important piece.
at the very least we need some help preparing for life after DMac.

yeah, if you extended him on a front loaded, say 5 year contract, which would pay him reflecting his DPOY and outstanding play by making him the highest paid CB for the next two years, with much lower Salaries and guarantees for the last three years. Play him as long as he’s elite at corner, and maybe have him switch to safety at a below market value at safety when he slightly falls off.
I wouldn’t go for that if I was the player. I’d cut it to a two or three year deal paying DPOY CB money and take my chances on the open market when that slight fall off occurs. We all know there will be teams lining up the Brinks trucks based on past performance, just to show their fans they’re serious about competing. Best bet of getting a long extension would be paying elite CB money for three years and another three years at market or a bit more for safety. Fair market value, and cement the deal based on confidence of being put in a position to succeed for the entire duration of the contract.

whether he turns out decent or not, it was the wrong pick at the time. You DO NOT pass up on a freak athletic talent like DK Metcalf in the 2nd round, whom possessed tools of a top 5 player.

This move is about a year too late. I think Williams has the skills to be a very effective safety.

So he should have been with the safeties from the word go? 2020 is only year 2 for him... Eeeh, i think you have to at least kick the tires at the cb position given his size

why? Based on his college tape, he was always going to be a safety if he plays physical enough.

Good corners are harder to find...least have to try him out... The upside is worth the experimentation

This dead horse will continue to be beaten if Williams doesn't pan out.

But rather than hoarding at a position of strength (CB), they should've double dipped at WR in the first two rounds or taken at least a TE with the 2nd round pick. Only taking Harry and calling it a day in the draft was not enough. The WR/TE position going into the 2019 draft was arguably the worst in the league. And it still arguably is.

Yet a 2nd rounder is later traded for a 30+ year old WR who's nothing special? :feet::headscratch:

While BB is scrambling to find a way to get Williams on the field, that pick could've been Metcalf, Brown, Samuel, Hardman, Irv Smith, or take your pick.
