I have to say, if a virus like this came out of America or Ireland, and a foreign leader called it “the American/Irish Virus,” I really don’t think I’d be offended. I’d just look at it and say “eh... it came from America/Ireland.” For someone that regularly says some pretty risqué **** on here, you’re being pretty soft and feminine on this matter. The hell do you care if people get offended by the President calling a Chinese virus “The Chinese Virus?” If they’re that easily offended, they’re probably offended daily. In that case, they need not be taken seriously.

The Chinese government destroyed evidence of the virus in December, they allowed 5 million people to travel in & out of Wuhan, no warning, they lied about the numbers, threatened to withhold medicine from the U.S. jailed & censored whistleblowers, & now blame the U.S

There were plenty of Chinese people that got the message out, scientists, doctors, and nurses who blew the whistle, before they got muzzled. They also passed on valuable data.

That's correct. I don't hold any resentment or negative feelings towards any Chinese people.

The US President calling it that has negative effects on the millions of Chinese-Americans and Chinese nationals living in the US, to say nothing of the millions more of other Asian descent. Is that really worth the trade-off?

He's calling it that for the same reason he didn't want the cruise ship to dock and the same reason they've lied continuously about the test kits.

Without doubt, someone like Frank Luntz told the gibbering nitwits to get on message and blame China to deflect from their own culpability in worsening the disaster.

People need to be held accountable for their own actions. If someone attacks a person with Asian ethnicity living in America, they’re an idiot and should be dealt with by the letter of the law. FYI, white people aren’t just “from the West” either. Same principle would apply in your example. Hell, many people from Spain look white. The Asians in your hypothetical would still be idiots.

I was about to say the same thing...with the additional caveat that the steak, chicken, pork, and fish are clean and regulated by the government. This is exactly what happened in the early 20th century with meat markets in our country before Teddy Roosevelt signed into law a bill that initiated regulation of the meat industry. Apparently China is 100 years behind.
