REPORT: Tampa is Brady's Likely Landing Spot

TB's OL isn't nearly as bad as some are making it out to be. And as I've said QB can make or break an OL. Most I T'S/Sacks are on the QB (glad the board is catching up on stuff like this). Those guys are jumping for joy they have a legit QB back there. They also have $ & some draft cap, so getting a T to tighten up that line isn't impossible by any means.

In terms of weapons and targets it'll be as good as Brady has ever had it. 2 legit WR1 in Evans and Godwin. Both are jump ball monsters and will give 12 all the confidence in the world if he has to lob it up. Then you have Howard, Miller and Brate. All have to have butterflies knowing they finally have a guy that can read the short/intermediate parts of the field. Winston has been terrible reading those areas and it's not bc of his vision lol.

Lots of options and a ton of room for creativity. This offense, for as good as it's been in flashes never looked or felt like they had a real identity.

I think Brady will love Godwin and Miller in the slot. Again lots of room for creativity.

In terms of offensive philosophy, I think people are making way too big a deal about that as well. You would think the EP is some magical code by the way some talk about it. They couldn't tell you **** besides "we run OpTion RouTes" lol. They'll find a happy medium or make w/e changes are necessary. If TB is truly "all in" this is one of the last things I'm worried about. Every team runs option routes, from HS to pros. They've been in and studied different systems for years. These are some of the smartest and most dedicated people in the world. With Brady there they'll figure it.

Their offense isn't far off imo and have almost every piece you want.

I haven't read this entire thread so I don't know if it's been discussed but isn't Goodwin #12?

Does Godwin give/sell Brady #12?

I'm sure Brady will throw him a few bux since Godwin has been #12 since college.

Dude from Tampa sports is on WEEI.

“Anyone who follows football knows the Bucs aren’t a 35 year old..never mind a 43 year old Tom Brady from winning the SB.”

Refreshing to hear that and quite a distinction from some here.

Whoever this guy is, he's being incredibly dishonest by citing age as the only change the Bucs made at QB.

I've always been on the Belichick side of the BB vs Brady argument.

Obviously they accomplished more together, but Brady has a Manning-like career on any other team. Maybe a couple rings and he makes more $ and has more weapons. You still have to build a defense.

Belichick jettisoned Cosar and Bledsoe and still won Superbowls. Now Brady has hopefully left on his own terms. BB will find a serviceable to excellent quarterback and do it all over again with a strong running game and solid defense. Hell, he went 10 and 5 with Matt stinking Cassell.

As far as how I feel about Brady...thanks for everything, especially the clutchness.
I feel Brady has become more of an elitist and diva with his success and wealth. He's no longer the beer guzzling, pizza eating good natured guy that he was. I also feel his intolerance of rookie receivers is a major flaw.
If he believes he can take his show on the road and duplicate what he had here in NE, he's probably wrong. Adding Antonio Brown seems to confirm that mentality.

If he just wants to squeeze out a few more years playing the game he loves, then good luck.

I'm vindictive, but honest. I hope he fails miserable outside of NE. I believe he will start out hot, then fade as he gets banged up and starts throwing passes into the dirt and the opposition's hands...if he lasts a full season.

We forget how he had to come back on the biggest stages because he threw some of his worst interceptions in those same games. Great defenses bailed him out on more than one occasion.

The Pats will have success in the post Brady era as long as BB is running the show, because I believe he, more than Brady, is the reason we have seen this unpresedented run.

Speaks volumes that every all-time great coach across sports (Belichick, Phil Jackson, Bill Walsh, Joe Torre) hadn't accomplished anything as head coaches prior to their all-time great players coming along (Brady, Jordan, Montana, Core Four Yankees). This isn't a coincidence. The players are the primary reason for historic success.

Tampa’s defense was 1st in yds per carry allowed, 12th in yds per pass allowed, and 15th in total yardage allowed. They lose Suh but the two young corner will be a year wiser that defense isn’t as bad as it seems. They’ll just need to be middle of the pack to be super bowl contenders especially with the offense going on longer drives and not committing 30iny.

We shall see won't we.
I am of the opinion that BB would have won a Superbowl in Cleveland and that same team he built won a Superbowl in Baltimore...without an elite QB.

Stick to Madden. We're dealing in reality here.

While that’s definitely true, one key element that’s missing is that part of what’s great about those coaches (and no, Joe Torre is not up there as the best BB manager...) is their ability to evaluate talent compared to others. That’s part of Red Auerbach’s legacy. In BB’s case, how many head coaches would 1) have kept 4 QBs in his first season when having a “franchise QB” in Bledsoe as #1, 2) would have kept that 4th string 6th round pick as a starter when Bledsoe came back despite their winning, 3) would have adamantly insisted that Brady start SB 36 despite his injury and Bledsoe’s playing the majority of the AFC game, 4) done all that after having been reamed over doing something similar 8 years earlier? How many coaches would have let Darrell Revis walk to go back to his divisional competitor and give the starting job to an UDFA? Etc. *These* are the traits that separate the great coaches from the rest, far more than any strategy they develop.

Do you want him to fail or something? Bucs can easily add more pieces on offense and defense to make it happen.

Tampa lost 7 games by 7 points or less with Winston throwing 9int in those games. With Brady that’s easily 10-11 wins last year and in the playoffs anything can happen with those weapons and an angry Brady.

And for him to say a 35 year old Brady doesn’t make a team that won more than 4 games contenders, makes him not credible and foolish.

It's easy to cherry pick these "wow so genius" decisions in hindsight for all these coaches.

And Joe Torre is routinely listed among top 10 baseball managers of all time.

Yup, you're right . . . IF

1. He adapts to Tampa personnel and playbook.
2. He doesn't get injured.
3. He plays like he did at age 40.

Good luck with that. Sorry.

I’m a baseball guy. Joe Torre is only listed as such because of recency bias. His major talent was working Steinbrenner so he wouldn’t get fired during one of his temper tantrums. Any serious manager discussion begins (and possibly ends) with Earl Weaver.

So choosing to keep Brady as a 4th stringer and choosing to continue to play him as 2001 progressed were “wow, so genius” decisions? Got it.

No they didn't. I'd rather they have not signed Thuney or DMac or release/restructured someone else than release Brady to save $7m.

BTW it makes even less sense for 2020. Brady's cap hit is $13m and we'll likely sign a backup or competition for Stidham who will cost $5-6m. We'll end up at $18-19m cap hit for this QB slot. Instead they could have taken Tom on a multi-year deal with voidable years and spared us the cap hit.

The team could have pulled Thuney's tag if Brady was to be signed to a deal today.

:)

Believe it or not, Arians will work with Brady to have a playbook that works for all the TB resources.

I still believe the chargers would have been a perfect fit. The nfc has a lot of legit passers compared to the afc. Man the chiefs are loving that brady is out of the afc.

the chargers oline is pretty terrible from what I’ve read, no way Brady would go to a team and spend his last 2 years in the league running for his life

The Tampa Bay defense gave up almost exactly twice as many points as the Patriot defense surrendered last year. Their offense scored more points than ours while posting a losing record. Tom is going to have to have one of his best years if the Bucs hope to sniff the Super Bowl.

Jameis Winston throwing 30 picks was a huge reason for a lot of those skewed stats.

Winston threw more picks in 2019 than Brady has in the last 4 seasons combined.
