Brady gone

I’m still a fan but the future is bleak.

I hope whatever team tommy boy goes to he gets absolutely pounded. I'm looking forward to see what bb can do with the team over the next several years. i think he will turn it around quick.

The Pats now have dead money cap hits this year of $21.5 million dollars. $18.25 millon of it belongs to Brady and Anotnio Brown.

I would fire the GM that allowed that to happen!

So is patsfans.com gonna die down now that Brady's gone? Since sooo many people said they're done with the NFL when Brady's gone? Or gonna wait for the other wheel (BB) to fall off before jumping off the bandwagon?
Brady was magical and not just any other player. I'm sure tons of people will realize they were more Brady-fans than anything. Not really a bad thing, unless you have very strict Sports Fan Rules™.

The Pats don't need a full scale rebuild. That's what people seem to be missing.

They have a good defense. The offense needs a lot of work. We'll see.

WTF are you going on about "so little talent and cap room"??

They have an outstanding secondary with the following:
Gilmore, Jones, JMac, Jackson, DMac, Harmon.

They are set at RB with the following:
Michel, Harris, Burkhead, Bolden, White

They have a very solid O-line with:
Wynn, Thuney, Andrews, Mason, Cannon

They have what should be a good corps of WR:
Edelman, Harry, Sanu, Meyers

They have some of the best Special Teams players:
Slater, Justin Bethel.

They some good young talent:
Jake Bailey, Chase Winovich, Byron Cowart

They have several young players coming back from injury who are highly regarded by the team:
Cajuste, Froholdt, D'Angelo Ross, Malik Gant

And they have 14 draft picks.

And, at the very least, they could free up $27M in cap space to do lots of signing with.

If they were that great they wouldn't have lost to the freaking Dolphins the way they did.

They went 4 - 4 in the second half of the year for a reason.

I'm honestly excited for next season as it will be totally different. But if you think they are a contending team right now I think you'll be very disappointed. Or I just underestimated the decline of Brady and he was the problem all along.

We called them bandwagon fans.
However if you follow players and not teams your not a true fan in the sense of the word just my opinion.

I was for Brady over Bledsoe in 2001 but Bledsoe was the better QB, Brady was the better fit.

Woah. I think Belichick was win now in 2001, and that meant Brady.

hahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahha

Why not, the division is still garbage. Stidham may have learn something, we could still add another body for the QB position. This is an opportunity for the Patriots to try something new.

So were these not-true-fans not cheering for the Patriots at all, over the last 20 years?

$20 million cap hit after 20 years of being one of the greatest sports franchises in history... and you're pissed?

"Please sign me up for that."
- sports fans everywhere

If you were joking, well played. Otherwise you're nuts.

Guessing today is one of your better days?
im glad they moved on from the 43 year old royal king. poor baby had it so tough here. imagine having to play in all those superbowls. who needs that headache.

Please just stop this. Brady asked for and got the contract HE WANTED last year. It was not what Patriots wanted or asked for. It was all Tom.

It's not obvious to you that Brady didn't get the contract he wanted last year?
He put his home up for sale after those negotiations.
When Brady realized they were not making a long commitment to him, THAT'S when he had the contract tailored to his needs (no franchise tag, etc.) Not before.

It sucks that he’s gone but we have to move on. Onto next season, this is the belichick way.

This is where there is division. I don't agree I think he's earned the right to play and I think he's our best option, but assuming you think he sucks, I believe he should of been able to stay and Kobe around.

Where did I say he sucked? You have to look at this holistically taking everything into consideration. Try to think logically, not emotionally. Are the Patriots better over paying TB by millions and having little cap to improve the overall team resulting in possibly making the playoffs and losing in the first round? Or are they better off taking that money to build the O line, the D-line and overall depth of the team and being ready for life after TB12 2 years earlier even if it means not making the playoffs for 1 year?

"Poor baby" did his job at the highest level for 20 years, leading the team to 9 super bowls. Maybe show a little compassion and class, he took a beating and delivered at every level for 2 decades.

Yet, 20 years later you trash him for serving the Patriots for a long time. Some fans we got here.

Not if you are only invested in the team for one player.
Again just my opinion.
You can like other players and respect their skill their craft.
But if you wear their colors post on their board.
Then leave when that player retires leaves or regressed your not a true fan of that team.
