Brady gone

I only see him going to the Chargers if they take the best OT at pick 6 and trade for another good OT

This is an interesting point I read on reddit.

Go back to Flores firing Chad O'Shea and the reason why. You cannot find receivers to run a complex pre-snap read based offense. They aren't out there. For all the talk of weapons, the problem is that guys who can read the defense the way Tom does and adjust their routes don't exist anymore. How many guys did we bring in over the years who could not function with Brady? Good WR who couldn't make it work. Harrison quit in pre-season and he's a HOF level WR.

When it works, with Branch, Moss, Welker, Jules, Gronk, it's incredibly hard to defend. But the college game has changed a lot in 20 years. Nobody runs a pro style offense anymore, so the supply of WR and TE for that system is dried up.

You will see a different offense next season. It will look a lot more like what KC runs. It won't be about precise routes and throwing to spots.

A younger Brady for years had the ability to raise the players around him. That time has passed.

BB knew this and tried to run to a run first Offense, we say that during the SB run, The plan last year blew up with the injuries to Devlin, Andrews, Wynn and nagging injuries to Canon and Mason last year.
They tried signing AB to change direction when it became clear plan A wouldn't happen.

How quickly people forget the 2019 playoff performances.

34-44 341 yards
30-46 348 yards AT KC

2 months later, he was offered a 1 year contract below the going rate. I don't care what anyone here is selling about that, but coming off those great performances, he deserved more than what Marcus Mariota is getting.

To me, this is absurd to even debate this.

The fact that Brady made the decision to move on, more so than the Patriots did, helps bring a sense of peace with the move.

While it may seem jarring now, 10-15 years from now, looking back, I don't think this decision will taint any of those 20 seasons. Brady will move on, yet that 20 year run will still be the greatest in the history of sport, and I don't see it being matched, likely ever.

I look forward to rooting like hell for Brady and Belichick on their respective teams. If they were to play head-to-head, I think my approach would be, "I'm going to enjoy the competition as a captivated observer", rather than strongly rooting for one team or another.

If Chicago were smart, they’d throw everything it takes to get Brady. It just makes too much sense. Chicago, as a team and region, is incapable of making anything but occasional accidental good decisions.

If a team is willing to pay him 30 million a season for two or three years, then that's a pretty good deal for him. Tom has always had that simmering side about being disrespected. Maybe he wanted an all out FA pursuit, though that's not exactly the Patriot way. I don't know. Wish him the best, and I look forward to what's next for him and the Patriots. GOAT.

Agree with all but the last part. I was a pats fan pre Brady and I’ll be a pats fan post Brady. If they were to meet in the future my allegiance to the pats won’t waver.

We're finally going to get that Belichick vs Brady SB this season. My money is on the one true GOAT.

My only regret (if I can even have those as a fan for something that was out of my control) is that his Patriots tenure ended on a pick 6. That's a nitpick though.

probably is due to what we are living in this moment...life changed a lot...coronavirus created a new way to live...probably i totally expected the divorce...so i am not stunned at all...

i am curious to see the reaction of the NE Pats organisation...really...

we never relax in Foxboro...

Massively disappointed the goat couldn't retire here. This isn't a good day, by any means.
He had to leave, if he did not then there would always be the question of if he was a system QB and never won anywhere else. Now there will be an answer. My guess is this ends very badly for Brady. When Brady was young, his favorite receiver was the open one. Now it was all they need to earn Brady's trust. When was the last time a receiver from another team came on to the Patriots and connected with Brady at the start, Moss, AB?

Amendola did not recall, Sanu did not, who else? You think Brady is going to step on a field with a bunch of guys he has never played with and do well? He may get a fresh attitude out of something new but 5 games in and it will fall apart. He will be yelling at them and you think the coach on team X will be able to keep this under control?

I don’t know who that poster is, but he’s on the money.

Probably not, IMO. Mitchell adapted. AB was already adapting.

We'll get at least some resolution to this question with whatever team Brady goes to, though, so time will tell at least part of the tale.

That 1 year deal put him at the 6th highest paid QB in the league.

Sorry, but this is one of the biggest garbage takes I've seen.

Last year was more about all the injuries/retirement on the O-line (2 retirements before camp, 3 injured before camp ended, and the LT going down 2 weeks in) . That's why the running game was inconsistent. You could have had Barry Sanders in his prime back there and he'd have been mediocre.

The mishmash of WR and TE. Yeah.. Because BB is supposed to be clairvoyant and know that the 6 VETERAN TEs he signed weren't going to work out.

BB is supposed to be clairvoyant and know that AB and Josh Gordon were going to self-destruct less than half-way through the season. He's supposed to know that Sanu was going to suffer a high-ankle sprain that wouldn't heal properly and would require surgery after the season.

It's amazing how you try to re-write history. The 2018 contract restructure was the Patriots adding $5M in incentives to Brady's existing contract. OH MY GOD. How evil of them to give Brady the chance to make more money.

OMG.. They are so bad for upping Brady's salary to $23M.
He should have expected Gordon to self destruct in all fairness. Antonio Brown was an anomaly, had he worked out, it would have been purely dumb luck, unless BB was the mastermind behind his behavior in Pittsburgh and Oakland the past couple of years.

I posted on that, too, in this very thread. Again, I'm sorry your eyesight is failing you. I hope you can find a doctor to help you with that.

Gotta stay for one last round of acting smarter than everyone else. I respect that.
