And Brady would never throw a pick 6 oh wait

How’s that doom and gloom? Or were you just jerking my chain?
Partially jerking your chain but TBH I'm not ready to say we will be mediocre of Tom leaves.

Maybe not but the chances of winning a Super Bowl in the year 2020 are very slim. This was not a very good team in 2019 even with him and a lot of the core that won Super Bowls in 2014, 2016, and 2018 has aged. There are a lot of needs. If they aren’t winning the Super Bowl, I’d rather bottom out for a year to get a shot at Lawrence instead of rolling with another statue in Stidham long-term. But, like I said, that won’t happen.

Talk about seeing the world through Rose colored glasses...

He dropped back to pass five times, was sacked once, threw a pick 6, and had 2 completions. There is no way you can look at that sample size and think he has "promise". Stidham is in no way shape or form a NFL caliber QB. He was barely a decent college QB.

You're right, no player can ever possibly improve.

Brady went 1 for 3 for 6 yards in his 1st year, 33% pass completion. No way he can become a good NFL caliber QB, he was barely a decent college QB.

Not comparing the 2, but if there was a PatsFans back in the offseason of 2000, you would've said the same exact thing about Brady.

There have been several articles written about Stidham's improvement during the season running the 1st team offense while Brady nursed injuries. All positive.

So you would classify last year's team as mediocre?

Why do people seem to think there's no middle ground between "Stidham is the only developmental QB prospect we need" and "Stidham will never be good"?

There was one, Sonny.
We were in an email chain and dealing with “Mailer Daemon” bounce back with like every message we sent.

Because it's Patsfans. The middle ground doesn't exist for the small minded.

Nope. I would classify them as mediocre without Brady, though. Maybe of those balls that went into the dirt would have gone the other way with other QBs. As it stands, they were just north of mediocre even with Brady. A great team doesn’t get bounced at home in the WC round.

I think the argument here against Jarret is that he is another pocket passer. The league has changed. QB's need to be mobile to buy time and also run when they can safely for a 1st down. The defenses are so hampered. The pocket passer is gone by the way of the dodo...
Pats would be well served by positioning themselves to draft someone who plays this style.

Agree. From Halloween on they were mediocre with Tom last year.

1st 1/2: 8-0
2nd 1/2: 4-5

My overall point is I think if they keep Tom, stay healthy and add some playmakers on O they might be legit contenders. If they lose Tom but add playmakers, steady QB play, stay healthy and have a vey good D they will be a a very good team.

Stidham is not a statue.

That's absolute nonsense

The only team that makes sense outside NE is Oakland. They have an elite oline/RB with max cap space. They can draft Jude at 11 and sign AB to make a nuclear offense while getting Byron Jones and drafting defense to make an average to above average defense.

Why doesn't TN make sense?

But not contenders. So what’s the point? Divest. Unload those contracts, suck for a year, get a shot at Lawrence.

Yep. His outstanding record as a head coach prior to the first quarter pole of the 2001 season should lead anyone to believe that he can certainly win one without Brady.

You mean the coach that drafted Brady and then had the balls to hand the starting job over to him when his franchise QB returned from injury despite the howls of thousands of fans and media morons?

Ton take me with you. I don’t want to be left with these people

The argument against him is I'm pretty sure the only reason most of us are penciling him in as the starter/franchise QB is because he's the only guy on the roster not named Kessler (who, IMO, isn't that much worse than #4).
