It's a weird feeling for sure. I used to take the Monday off after the SB when the Pats were in it. I knew win or lose, I wouldn't be able to sleep after the game. I have to work Monday, and it seems weird. I know I'm spoiled, but I don't think we'll ever see the Pats in 4 SBs in 5 years ever again. All together, it was just an unprecedented run, 9 SBs in 18 years.
That being said, I've been rooting for the Niners on the NFC side since the playoffs started. I have a rooting interest in the Niners winning, I lived in SF for 7 years back in 1999-2006, and they became my NFC team. Add in Jimmy G to the mix, and I'm rooting for them big time. I'm kinda sick of the Chiefs hype, though they haven't won anything in 50 years, but I don't necessarily HATE the Chiefs, I actually like Mahomes despite the hype.
It's kinda weird rooting for the Niners, considering IF they win, they will tie us (& the Steelers) with 6 SB wins, so it'll be kinda bittersweet if they win. We will just have to win it next year to take the lead
This is pretty much exactly how I feel. I live in the Bay Area now and there isn’t much to dislike about the 49ers, other than that the 1980s players came out as jealous losers during Deflategate, which really sucked because they were the coolest team in sports when I was a kid. I hope if anyone come close to some of the Patriots feats, they will not act like the 72 Dolphins or 80s 49ers.
I also like Jimmy G. and don’t see why anyone wouldn’t. Guy is a great leader and does what he needs to do to win. It’s clear the Patriots had found “the guy” in him. Another story there though.
