Good point

Good point. I wonder how many Patriots cheating articles would have been written by now if they were still in?
Many and the NFL loves it. They've always embraced the wrestling model of story lines and bad guys vs good guys. This goes all the way back to when Raiders used to be good.

It was reported a few weeks ago that the NFL would come down on a decision about Spygate2 during the Championship week. Why? Easy. If as usual the Pats were playing this week then it would've added to the drama and get more eyes on their product. Get the casuals to tune in to hate watch New England. It's just all manipulating real situations into storylines to put more money in the pocket of owners.

The Evil Empire has been great for business for the NFL. Nice doesn't sell but anger and hate fuels interests. Marketing fact.

I always remind my wife that there are 33 NFL teams....the 32 and the Patriot haters.....

The scandal sucked, but we got at least 2 super bowls out of it...
And we got the sequence of Roger getting vehemently booed during the trophy presentations, particularly so after SB51.

Regards,
Chris

One of the biggest issues about the investigation that gets little coverage is the fact that the NFL allowed the false 11/12 balls losing more than 2 PSI lie to linger when they knew for a fact that it was false.
YES!
I am amazed (though I shouldn't be) that the media has no interest in a story that the NFL found out the data it had was false, acknowledged that it was false to NE, and then specifically and explicitly prohibited NE from releasing it.

Really, if you want to slam Kraft for anything, slam him for not giving an interview where he handed out copies of that letter. Sure, Goodell would have been furious, but it would have been intriguing to try to see the NFL try to justify whatever penalties they handed down for the leak when the letter was saying "yes, we are wrong and know it, but you can't tell anyone". Really, it probably would have been worth whatever penalties the NFL levied in the team for that. Would have changed the entire narrative since people would have known that (a) the 2 PSI low thing was a lie, and (b) Roger and the NFL was actively trying to cover up the lie.

Even though the mediots hate NE, a coverup by a powerful organization like the NFL is too juicy to not report.

Deflategate motivated Brady over the last 5 years.

In the end, the only ones who lost were the other 31 teams, while the GOAT padded two more rings and another Super Bowl appearance to his immortal legacy.

Sweet success stemming from stupidity. Got to love it.

All this will take is one whistle blower or well placed rat within the NYFL who spills the beans about the clear initiative from the NFL to knife the Patriots instead of trying to fact find. It will happen. In a backstabbing organization like that, someone will give the inside story out of either vengeance or financial gain.

Problem is the whole NFL office is filled with the New York crowd. None of them will ever come clean unless they have an ax to grind.

I still think the Patriots should have done a public demonstration at halftime of a game on a cold day- take measurements at the start, half and end of game of footballs and show the results on the scoreboard for all to see.

Maybe Kraft didn’t want to embarrass his good buddy Roger.

And they should have done it in an AFCCG with the whole country watching. But the problem is CBS would not have aired it. It would have had to have been part of one of their documentaries on Facebook or something.

Finally the tide has tuned to actual innocence instead of inconclusiveness. I hope fans can start a petition to retroactively remove Brady’s suspension on the eve of his Hall induction. At that point Roger might be gone and the shame will compel them to think about it.

The damage is done. Think of how many political comments get wrongly reported and "corrected". They're never gone, and they continue to get used by those in opposition.

This is no different. Between those who are ignorant of the facts, and those who allow agenda to overcome truth, this will continue to be out there. Hell, we've still got people repeating the claim that the Patriots taped a Rams walk through ahead of the 2001 Super Bowl.

Just wait until the white not hatred dies down, the Patriots and Brady are a throwback to the glory days of the NFL, and Goodell is out of power. I’m sure he’s hated by so many people there who can’t say anything. Just look at the snaky nature of the “man.”

Except people will care very little when they are no longer in fear of the Patriots in the right now. Jealousy and hatred are emotions. They’ll be transferred to the next biggest NFL powerhouse. So, yes, the story will never be corrected to the masses in the way it should. It will also become a nothingburger historically. If you read the history of football there are tons of scandal as no one even cares about or remember because they are fan only remember three days ago and a chart of Super Bowl winners and major records. Shula was involved in a scandal moving to Miami. Steelers, see Shouldergate. Few care about the Broncos cap violations. Only the absolute bitter haters will bring it up, the people who linger on PFT comments sections like vermin.

???

The Steelers' titles are derided because of steroid use. The Colts are mocked because of their game playing with their audio system.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious. Of course fans other teams will bring up anything in their “why I hate this team” speeches. I’m saying this isn’t going to be like the steroid era or Black Sox scandal, where it reverberates through mass culture.

It's never going to go away. You're arguing that commentary will lessen over time. That's to be expected. Commentary on almost everything lessens over time. That's not the same as saying that the narrative will be changed, wrongs will be made right, or anything like that.

Sentences like this make me confused. It’s like it’s this great mystery if the balls are under inflated. Why doesn’t a reporter just measure the PSI of a football he brings with him to a cold weather game?

It’s obviously years late, but at the time everyone was yelling at each other about whether the IGL could explain the Patriots PSI levels and nobody did an actual ****ing experiment except for the NFL (who never released the results the next year) and a handful of eighth graders who won their science fairs when they showed that the PSI levels were right where they should have been.

What has always been so frustrating about this is that there's no need to run an experiment: IGL is a *law* not a theory: footballs inflated at room temperature *must* lose pressure when cooled. All that is debatable is what pressure they were inflated to at what temperature, and what temperature were the balls when they measured them at half time. The "MIT professor" and every one else who ran the numbers showed the magnitude of the effect was what was reported by the officials. But the NFL was so obliviously incompetent that they brought the cold balls into a warm room to measure them, so they got varying readings as the balls warmed.

Yet Brady was punished anyway because he wouldn't trust them with his text messages.

Meanwhile, I was just listening to WFAN here in NY a while ago and Gary Myers came on and told a story of how he and BB hadn’t spoken in 10+ years due to his stories on Spygate until the recent HOF selection meeting and how it was the best day he has had in years because he sat next BB and they had a wonderful day discussing all things football etc. Ten minutes later he wondered why Kraft hadn’t fired him for cheating for 8 years. 8 years. 3 Super Bowls he reasoned. What a f**king c**t. And I say that with all due respect, Gary.

One of the biggest issues about the investigation that gets little coverage is the fact that the NFL allowed the false 11/12 balls losing more than 2 PSI lie to linger when they knew for a fact that it was false. Brady was answering questions based off this false narrative and was unable to provide a plausible explanation as there would not have been one if those numbers had in fact been true. Patriots were told to stand down and were unable to publicly correct them either.

By the time the true PSI numbers came to light and the science had been made public the narrative had already been finalized for many and they had no interest in having their minds changed. (I believe that the majority of commentators knew it was false but went with it due to it being better for ratings) Would love to see a detailed documentary on the scam and how the NFL framed the GOAT and tarnished the image of its most successful team.

This is another issue that fans have with Bendover Bob. Stacey James got f’d by Jeff Pash about releasing that information. But it was Bob’s call. You saw how furious James was
and that he saw through Pash’s order to wait for the Wells Report as something very underhanded.

The Patriots could have easily leaked it but Bob, despite all the reports about Wells having an agenda, clearly let good ole Roger have his way with the distribution of facts and fake facts. Had the Pats released these documents, it’s very possible the NFL is no longer in control of the narrative, which shifts to their lies to the public and to the Patriots. But let’s keep defending Kraft, by all means. Betcha 90% of owners would have used that leverage to possibly win this information war, but not Bob. He waited for the misinformation to destroy Brady and then came out after from a desperate looking position.

To think the Pats has no leverage is false. They had those documents in hand but somehow believed (despite the documents themselves being nefarious) that they NFL would do them right. It’s an atrocity.

If they had done that, the NFL would have hit them again. Sounds good to the layman, but this isn't how mega-billion $$$ corporations work.

This is the equivalent of the media sitting on pictures of a former president with a voracious anti Semite...bc it didn't fit the narrative of the day/election cycle

After Brady retires, the NFL will only get my viewership back with a letter of apology/retroactive removal of suspension. I’m sure they won’t, but I don’t care. Have better things to do than give dollars to these unconscionable a-holes. It’s been a real great life lesson, and so enjoyable, watching how TB12 got his revenge.
