OT: Netflix Hernandez series

This is where I am at. And "Two Popes" was pretty good...watched it on a plane a few weeks back. "King" was okay....

Agree on “The King”. You were led to believe there is going to be a big face off between King Henry and Robert Pattinson’s character. When it happened I was like “WTF”. The twist was kind of easy to predict.

Just watched the entire series - I thought it was really good , a lot of info I didn't know myself; living in the land of the Jete. B+/A-

They did present Kraft in a precious moment of ultimate buffoonery towards the end of Episode 3 as he shills for the camera, right after a slew of CTE related evidence, saying something to the effect of "if you want your child to be special make sure they play football"..

The guy had all the skills in the world, but after his father died his mother failed the children.

That was the downfall for Aaron.

Such a sad situation all around.

Watched it over the last two nights....

Seemed that a toxic stew of interfamily violence, early sexual victimization then add a series of concussions resulting in CTE did him in..

The whole BS about him moving to a team on the West Coast was nonsense, Hernandez gravitated toward the "thug life".. and that exists everywhere. Consider the guys from Florida he hooked up with in the theater district murders, geography did not seem to be an issue..

Sometimes, bad people are bad. Not because they had this or that - they are just not good people.

I believe that upbringing makes a difference. When I was coaching youth sports I noticed that the 'problem' kids almost always came from bad situations. That doesn't excuse the person as an adult but it can come into play.

Cte is not a big part of it and the sexuality stuff you cant even be sure are real based on THIS doc.

He apparently was banging his high school qb and that dude and his dad come off as camera hungry losers imo.

If anything, it's the recorded jailhouse phone calls that make this worth a search because you get alot of persoect from a Aaron's side.

At the end of the day his violent impulses combined with drugs killed multiple people and the sympathy should lye with them and just live with the what ifs aaron didnt lose his ****.

If he wasnt a serial killer, the Pats prolly have more superbowls but that's all pocket change compared to the loss of life.

Personal take : both play a role, but I think that sometimes, in 2020, people tend to put too much stock in nurture and not enough on nature. I’d favour nature in many cases.

Thought it was well done, but lost points when it hinted at excuse making, i.e., Hernandez "might" not have turned into a PCP smoking, triple murdering, menace IF society just let him live his life openly and freely as a gay or bi football player and that this particular circumstance, coupled with his CTE, "might" explain his homicidal disposition...

Whether or not the QB was telling the truth, he was classless to say Hernandez was gay when he can’t prove it nor could Hernandez defend himself.

It was as though Callahan had found some, "late breaking news".. was being "outed" on the radio a factor in his suicide???

Whether he was gay or not does not have all that much to do with what he did, there were many other factors that led to his propensity to violence. All his so called "bisexuality" did was provide some context to his complex character that was marked by violence in the home and his sexual victimization...
