shows you want a piece of crap Urban Meyer is. He spoke to BB about AH and obviously vouched for him. Either that or BB values talent over being a good human. the whole thing is F'd up

After watching this, I am even more appalled by Aaron Hernandez and also the filmmakers that thought this would somehow put this in a new light. He never once seemed to understand or care about the wake of misery he left behind.

I was semi-interested in the Shayanna Jenkins storyline. She is a lot more grounded and intelligent than I expected. I wonder how she really feels about Aaron...what a terrible situation to be in. I mean, I’m sure she knew the guy had problems, but I highly doubt she knew he was that violent, and then she has a daughter with him and before finding out.

Coincidence or not, Belichick never drafted a Meyer Ohio State player despite there being being ton of talent there.

And I imagine this is why in many jurisdictions you are not forced to testify against your wife/ husband. I was surprised their relationship wouldn’t be legally classified as such despite not being married (or maybe MA is not a state with spousal privilege). I would think this goes way back in the judicial system with children in mind. So that makes it very odd that she has no legal shield from testimony, but a married couple with no children would.

Think she had a little bit of Aaron’s makeup to her with her ability to compartmentalize. For sake of argument I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and say she didn’t know exactly how bad it was but there is no way anyone can convince me she didn’t at least have a strong inkling. The home video of him wandering around the house with a gun, the shady characters he hung out with, the volatile temper. There’s no way she didn’t know he was into some sort of dirt and looked the other way out of a combination of love and not derailing the gravy train.

Yes - that’s exactly the reason why souses are exempt from testifying. There’s too much personal interest at stake; it would almost be like having the defendant testify directly. In this case, you have a mother who is thinking about the extreme consequences of her, and her daughter, in addition to Hernandez.

I’m kind of surprised she didn’t just plead the fifth. Her “lack of remembering” where she put the presumed murder weapon would seem ripe for a perjury charge.

Editing and context, right? His comments would be perfect if the conversation about how football teaches discipline, work ethic, character, team work etc., and looks monstrous after a discussion on whether head trauma makes you murder your friends.

We finished watching the series last night.

I've got a step daughter who has a neurological condition which, among its symptoms, removes impulse control and brought anger and violence forward. I've got some extreme first hand experience with what frontal lobe disability looks like.

At one point, in a conversation about setting expectations for her behavior, one of the many therapists we used said, "asking that of her is like yelling at a person in a wheelchair to walk up a flight of steps." In other words, all of our assumptions about independent decision making and "free will" were only going to do harm to her and the family.

    So adding up AH's circumstances:
    • violent father imprint
    • probable sexual abuse as a child
    • confused, repressed, shame-laden sexuality
    • three cultural contexts that encourage violence and shame homosexuality: his family, gangs, and football
    • extremely heavy use of MJ and pain killers
    • celebrity status where he's consistently given a pass on his behavior
    • proximity to his past by living in southern NE and working for the Patriots
That's a formula for trouble. A few people would be able to transcend that but most wouldn't.

Then give him "the worst case of CTE ever seen in a brain for someone his age", dramatically removing impulse control. He didn't really have a chance.

Regarding some of the previous posts, Jenkins knew about his temper as she told him this in a phone call from jail. I think it was when he was complaining about the guy that kept heckling him from his cell. That’s when he and Aaron were both outside their cells, Aaron beat him up.

The problem with Callahan is that he is a miserable human being. He has an opinion about someone or something and without a shred of humanity, will go low without any self-awareness. Then they put him that that smug narcissist Minihane and the show went off the rails. Admittedly, I'm to the left him so that might color things too but when Dale was on the show, I listened because he could reel Jerry in a bit. They were entertaining but when they added Minihane, it was like they competed to see who was a worse human being IMO and I used to turn the dial when they attacked people who called in.

Difficult to blame Callahan/Minihane for what happened to Hernandez, but they did not help the overall situation. The quest for ratings/facebook likes or twitter followers is overwhelming for many on sports talk radio and for some reason being controversial has become better than being factual or informative.

They descended into some juvenile banter about his sexuality, to make cheap points on their now defunct radio show.. he may not have heard it, but a Correctional Officer may have and threw it out to Hernandez.

Do not listen to sportstalk radio much any more, except Patriots Monday, and if somehow the radio is tuned into Felger or even Bertram, I switch the station.. there are many who believe and want us to believe every Pats conspiracy theory being floated out there..
