Very cool
Agreed. Used to do chats, mailbags etc. I don’t understand why ESPN wouldn’t want that kind of community tbhThat's great. Kudos to Mike.
ESPN Boston used to be a great landing spot for Patriots related items due to his influence and that great blog he maintained. There was a lively community in the comments section similar to this one. Among the many sins of ESPN, neutering that site is one of the worst.
He's a consummate professional. Most media figures in the Boston sports scene try too hard to inject their personalities, biases and agendas into their 'analysis'. Mike presents a mostly neutral perspective and cares most about getting the facts right, even if it costs him the 'scoop'. He gives a lot of insight into players' personalities and backgrounds and I think is highly respected by the team and by Belichick.
ESPN doesn't deserve him.
He's been around forever and he's just a good guy. I was fortunate enough to meet and have lunch with him many years ago and he's just one of the most genuine people you'll ever meet. He's certainly one of a kind and I'm glad he's remained the one constant in a market that has undergone so many changes beat-wise.Mike and @Ian go way back. No?
Not sure of the details behind the award but either way, it's certainly well-deservedWho gives out this award?

I’m not sure what that means in this context though. All of his stuff is still free, it just seems to me that it’s less appealing for fans/readers. I would assume the more people they draw in the better. I’m sure I’m missing something and the changes have benefited their bottom line, I’m just not sure that I see how, at least in that area. There's no money in free stuff.
