Antonio Brown Update

The way I saw it, they saw a volatile kid with very tough/ disadvantaged upbringing who is a bit unhinged but wanted.... nay, needed, a family and support structure to have some stability and put him on the straight and narrow. And Tom felt he and the Patriots could provide that, and I agree. Now we don’t have to take on every reclamation project but they didn’t give AB one tenth the time/love/attention/support they gave Gordon and AB is an All-pro talent compared to Gordon.

We bailed too soon

Yeah, that worked really well with Aaron Hernandez. I guess we should have waited until Brown killed someone before cutting him.

This is like TMZ now. Maybe we should have a thread on the lives of NFL players outside of the football stadium.

The domestic disturbance incident shown on the video, although embarrassing, happens literally 1000s of times every week. Pretty sure there are domestic disturbances in other players lives, we just never hear about it. Of course, him filming it makes the whole incident weird.

Shmessy's obsession with all things AB may be weirder.

Antonio Brown didn't come from some rough neighborhood or grow up in gangland, you numbskulls. I went to elementary school with him. His dad was the highest paid player in the Arena League, which was a low six figure salary back then (plus a salary as a teacher in the offseason). Yes, his mom left his dad and took Antonio to Florida when he was 10 or so, and the house may not have been a happy one, but stop with this rough-and-tumble crap. The more likely explanation is that it's football-related brain damage, he's been a completely different person since that Burfict hit in January 2016.
Who is saying he's from the 'hood or had a horrible childhood?

In this case, Belichick didn’t even have to set up the “flophouse” like that one AH story alleged back in the day. Because Brady offered it up for him!

I said in September I’d rather lose without this jackass than win with him. Haven’t changed my mind. Imagine gearing up for the AFCCG and this video gets released. I’m not under the false belief that all Patriots are Angels, but this dude has not taken care of his mentals and chickens. He sucks.

I appreciate the contribution, @primetime , but it isn't an unreasonable to speculate his upbringing was part of this ("numbskulls"). Your clarification is indeed useful.

But you went to school with him!? That's a wild small world thing. Was he talented back then, as in, dominated school yard games? Inquiring minds want to know.

I can’t imagine Brady would ever let this nut job live in his house again.

That dude seems plain old crazy. Sad to see and I am one to believe that he will be dead by 50.

Be nice if the league could force a psychological evaluation as a condition of return.

AB needs help ... his kids need him to get that help.

You're making our point. The fact that he films it is the point. He is not right upstairs. Not sure you can depend on someone in that state.

It's hard to understand what he's doing. This video looks like something a stranger should film and leak to TMZ for a few $. Why is he doing this and releasing it? Does he think it makes him look good? Is this generating revenue? I don't understand.

If we had a hard time reconciling AB blowing up his career after Week 2 of the regular season, imagine having him blow up on the eve of the AFC Championship.

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why it was the right FOOTBALL thing to do to cut his *** back in September the moment the little light bulb went off at 1 Patriot Place that screamed 'Hey, this guy might not be too dependable and could actually screw up a few things here with his mental illness and magic cell phone'.

That light bulb just isn't working in the heads of the last few (3-4) holdouts in this thread.

I love the “boo hoo he needs help” crap. He’s an a**hole. He’s always been an a**hole. Now he just doesn’t have the Steelers covering it up anymore. There’s nothing wrong with him aside from the fact he’s gotten his way his entire life and can’t cope with anything that doesn’t go his way.

You could not have possibly watched that whole video and still think that is reasonable to expect that man to be a good teammate and contributor to a winning football team.

EDIT: He is calling the mother of his children a "*****-ass ho" in front of those children. He says "I love you Poppy" to one of the kids in between cursing at her and the police. Being a Patriot requires mental toughness. AB displays no such thing.

He's more likely than not both ... doubt many think it's an either/or.

We need AB back.

Harry can learn from one of the best.

I feel ashamed for him. This is the real AB though. This is his true character. This is how he treats people, this time around, he recorded it himself.

I don't think this behavior is reflective of his true character.

I think he has brain trauma from playing football that's causing him to behave this way.

Someone mapped out the shift in his behavior from relatively stable/consistent -> erratic/volatile and it correlated almost perfectly with the knockout hit he took from Burfict.

I'm much more sad for him than I am mad at him. I sincerely hope he gets help ASAP.
