???

I expect us to have a competitive roster. We always do (at least since Kraft arrived). Why do keep on saying that I don't think that we will have a competitive roster.

I believe our primary difference is that I want to defer more of Brady's compensation that you do. I also believe that from BRADY's perspective, he might be better off elsewhere; but that is for Brady to decide.

But, yes, I do indeed believe that Brady will get some signals from Belichick by who is re-signed and which free agents are signed in the first week of free agency. Obviously, that won't be the final team, but Brady understands that hoping for later major transactions that will help the passing game rarely happen.

So you are one of those guys that thinks the patriots are a team that isn’t going to build a competitive roster and what they have in March is all they sill have in September? I’ll make note of that but you should go some patriots history research.

Where we disagree is that I see Brady understanding the remarkable advantage he has in New England in terms of being able to win a SB and that he will value that and not go to a crappy team because they offer more money or lose with good wrs.
I also don’t believe it will ever reach the level of real free agency, just like Brees doesn’t under the same circumstances

don't sleep on Tampa Bay..they have all the pieces installed in that offense...and probably the most erratic QB in the league...plus 90 mil in cap space?

Another team with OL problems, though.

Some of the teams without good QBs have good defenses, like the Chargers and the Bears.

They also have talent at the skill positions on offense.

Both teams are horrible when it comes to OL.

Both teams have a lot of cap space.

Brady is a difference maker. Switch Brady for Trubisky and the Bears are playing today.

Disagree. Bears aren’t a good football team. Patriots defense much better. Bears offensive supporting cast is nothing to write home about.

That draft was loaded and he ended up with one of the worst football players I've ever seen.
Tebow was not an nfl caliber QB but he was arguably the best college an ever. Can’t call him a bad football player.

I think that TEN or TB would have a good chance at winning a SB with brady at the helm for the next two years. TEN has to re-sign Henry and Ryan. Otherwise, they are in good tips capwize.

Better then the patriots???

Live look at McDaniels in his office.

Is it possible that there are teams with much better offenses for Brady to lead, where Brady will be MUCH better protected? Might Brady prefer on of these teams? I think so; it certainly is a reasonable possibility for Brady to consider.

Good point. People here complain bitterly about the receiver talent issue, but IMO the real problem this year was the collapse of the running game because of the retirement of Gronkowski and loss of Andrews, Devlin and Brown, and the injuries to Cannon, Mason and Wynn (I don't think Michel's play declined, I think his opportunities did).

The only recipe that reliably works for and elderly QB is a dominant running game allowing for selective play action. That's what won the two super bowls for Elway in his last two years. The receivers will all look much better if the defense has to play the run first. Brady also needs to limit the dropbacks he's taking to avoid injury, because cumulative and declining ability to avoid and recover from injury is what ends NFL careers, and it's visibly threatening Brady's.

I say invest in the OLine and running game overall if you want to extend Brady, and Brady should only consider going to teams with a very strong OL and running game.

I didn't say the Bears had a better D than the Patriots.

I like the Bears players on offense. Allen Robinson is a better skill player than anyone on the Patriots. Miller is a good #2. They need a QB. Chargers are even more talented on O

I’m talking about winning. There is zero doubt in my mind that if Brady stays here in 2020 he will end up with a better offense than if he went to the bears.
Edelman has done a lot more than Robinson and Miller isn’t worthy of a GOAT abandoning the greatest organization ever.

I agree with regard to the bears, but no with regard to TB and TEN. BTW, their free agents and cap factors in to this analysis.

I strongly disagree. If we were to spend our cap money on the OL and "there running game", our defense would be average instead on the very best in the NFL.

BTW, how would you invest in "the running game overall"?

Josh McD returning is def the best thing.Maybe he can get TB12 to return but if Brady leaves/retires then Stidham has the system knowledge to jump in

By the end of the year, our defense was in decline and was unable to close out the Miami game. A ball control offense would help there too. Best combo is a ball control offense and an attacking pressure defense, with Brady in reserve to bail them out when they fall into a hole.

I suggest investing on offense in the OL if we want to keep Brady, as his longevity is now inversely proportional to the throws he makes and hits he takes. Brady needs to be on a ball control team, and not like the ones he's led where short passing is a substitute for a running game. Too much wear and tear on his arm, and too many hits on him. Brady needs to be conserved for the occasions when he is really needed, not relied to carry the team game after game and play after play as he has done so many times over the last ten+ years.

By non-OL running game I mean good blocking TE's and WR's, a good FB or two, and adequate depth at RB. I think its more important to have a great OL with a stable of good backs than looking for star RB's. I think Michel is quite adequate behind a good OL, there just needs to be a better platoon. Michel+Harris+Burkhead might be good enough, although the squad lacks a bruiser for short yardage situations, ideally someone who can block as a FB, too.

With an offense like that Brady can win another SB. Hopefully here.
