This situation is something I think about a lot and I never come to any other conclusion besides what you said. You know you need a TD+2, but you also know you need a TD+1, so knock the easy one out first and stay in the game.

The game isn’t over if you fail to get the conversation with like 7 minutes to go. It will be over if you miss that two later and you weren’t aggressive enough to leave time for two more scores.
