OT-ish: The gambling thread

And without further ado... Week 16 is here. Hopefully the picker can finish out the regular season strong with two winning weeks. Based on winning and losing weeks its 6-4-1 overall.

As usual a few head scratchers:
Bucs over the texans by almost 9 points...
Panthers over the Colts
Cardinals in a virtual tie with the Seahawks
Bills over the Pats...it really doesn't like the Pats much lately...sounds like some long time posters around here...

Season:
ATS: 87-71-3 (55%) +8.9 units
SU: 94-67 (58%)

Week 15:
ATS: 5-11
SU: 8-8

I’m afraid to ask, but does anyone ever bet against the Patriots? I’ve done it plenty of times over the years, but always with the points, and always with a Patriots victory as the priority. The reason I ask is because Buffalo+6.5 looks like a really solid play to me.

I took the Ravens when they played the Pats. I had that as an L to start the year so I held onto it. I also think I took Buffalo with the points in Buffalo but I can't remember.

I do like Buffalo +6.5. it's a toss up game and going to be close IMO.

I am done for 2 weeks but I love the upset pick of the Titans. Saints outside the dome are meh at best

I do it. No shame here. Doing it today. Did it in Super Bowl 52

also took the points with the jags that year

Once we get to the games that matter (usually postseason) I do it all the time.

It really is a win/win from my POV. Either we win or I get some additional disposable income.

The Bills game today is really a tough decision.

So ****in dumb that book doesn’t let you by a half up or down from 3. Pisses me the **** off. I need to be done with that site after the year because parlay payouts are mostly trash and I need to have the option to buy a half from 3 points

All the time. It's abt making $ & betting on #'s. Not teams or players.

what do you mean by betting numbers exactly? I like to play/avoid certain numbers myself. For example I’ll never lay 3.5 or take 6.5. Is this sort of what you’re saying?

No I'm betting on a # as opposed to a team/player/matchup.

I'm not looking at who's better but more interested in getting the best #'s.

Too many look at it the opposite.

What determines what the best number is? I thought that this had to do with key numbers

It's a bit of both. Key #'s & not ignoring the obvious. Like today, Buffalo catching a TD/6.5 today. Just a better # as opposed to laying that when you factor in circumstances.

You've never heard of betting the # not the team? Not trying to be an ass its just kinda 101. Ignore the names & washing away the hype.

Like I'd have a mathematical/statistics background as opposed to knowing a **** ton abt football or w/e sport you're playing.

lol I’ve heard of it. I basically do it myself. But I factor in the matchup with it. In other words I’m not just going to take 7.5 everytime it’s an option. Sometimes the 7.5 is valuable other times it’s not.

4 of 5 last week, 3 of 3 so far this week and OFC the Pats hit their season over total today, things are looking up!

Remember back when we were posting about shopping that? I didn't want to cough up the juice at -150. Pretty sure that was this year but maybe it was last. I'm not sure if I posted it or not but I finally got it at -135. Pretty certain it was Supa that pulled the trigger at -130 but I couldn't get it.
