Penalties being considered for the Pats - UPDATED 1/1/2020

It's a bit premature for another competitive balance tax, but they have won two SBs since the last one.
Great term! That's more or less what the alleged "cheating scandals" boil down to.

Please tell me you realize “field” has a totally different meaning to the cameraman, referring to the “field” meaning the actual scouting territory where the scout is observing. The scout does not just sit and watch the game, fill out a stat sheet, and listen to Dan Fouts on his transmitter radio. He watches the sidelines, coaches, and players to get advanced info. That’s why the cameraman thought the footage would be important to illustrate the scout’s job. That’s also a violation of NFL rules.

Lucky guy. Wish I was a scout.

So, this week should be interesting. I think when it started I said the Friday before Christmas would be when we hear the penalty. Anything sooner, or later, means trouble. Hoping there is no Tuesday afternoon drop like the Wells Report.

Hey Tottie..I KNOW you're a Pats fan so take what I say as friendly CORRECT information. Brady's phone being destroyed was a total, unequivocal red herring. The league already had every bit and byte that was on the phone downloaded and examined BEFORE Brady destroyed his cell phone and got a new one....something that almost every celebrity not lying around in a drug induced coma does with frequency. It was a total straw man canard put out there by media and NOT DENOUNCED NOR EXPLAINED by NFL Offices. If you really followed the entire ordeal you'd know Judge Berman affirmed this in his ruling and that Goodell then appealed and won on the grounds that HE, Oberfuhrer Adolph Goodellher, can say and do whatever he wants to say and do in this league and there's NOTHING anyone can do about it. Article 46.

Brady's phone, air pressure in balls, the "deflater!", "12 balls two pounds under!!!"..all L-I-E-S. Period.
Yes.

That's right. I'm not sure why you are replying like that we are in agreement. They didn't need it but they sure used the fact that he 'destroyed it' against him.

The biggest issue to me over this whole stupid thing is that the guy who was doing the filming asked the security if they wanted him to destroy the film and all would be good - if it was not an illegal act i would have told security nothing is wrong here and GFY then make it sound like you got caught with your pants down.

I completely understand how it looks suspicious for the cameraman to say he could erase the footage if they wanted. Those could be the actions of a guilty person who was aware he was doing something wrong and is trying to find a way out. That could also be the reaction of someone who wasn't aware they were doing something wrong and thinks offering to undo it will resolve the situation.

On a different topic, does the NFL think that making a big deal out of this is good for business? They could have said this was a misunderstanding, levied a low 6 figure fine against the Patriots and wrapped this up last Monday or Tuesday. Instead, they let speculation fly for a week, video get leaked to the media and they're just starting to investigate now. This story already has a longer media shelf life that the Astros scandal and we're not close to it being over. I get that there are other owners and people at NFL headquarters who dislike the Patriots, but constantly pushing the idea that one of your best teams is cheating is a bad idea. If fans start to think the games aren't on the level, they're going to stop watching. If some politician starts asking questions, particularly with regard to legalized gambling, the league is going to have to deal with a problem they helped create.

“That’s not the field.” My eyes aren’t at their best at the moment but it looked to me like it was the field when the bengals started talking. It drifted to the sideline and stayed there while the bengals got all bullying.

Man this tape is bad, the Pats employee saying my bad is a smoking gun.

It doesn't matter if that cut on the Glazer segment is out of context or etc... If the whole video was those 20 seconds that's already pretty bad. There's 8 minutes of tape.

Be ready to have another draft pick confiscated
If the whole video was those 20 seconds you would be looking at the players and coaches asses when camera panned to sideline, which is fine if you're into that sort of thing.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

VIOLATION!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

What if it was Cincinnati who videotaped us? Would the nfl start an investigation?

What do you think the answer to your question is?

There is an ongoing NFL investigation.

The Bengals, DURING AN ONGOING NFL INVESTIGATION, gave evidence from that investigation to the media to broadcast nationally yesterday.

Who is violating??????

.

If the producer says he left the bathroom door unlocked, that may give him some leeway. :)

Apologies for going off on a tangent, but in a "scandal" loaded with ridiculous things, people finding significance and sinister intent behind McNally locking a bathroom door was underrated. Someone locking the door when they go into a single person public bathroom is a completely normal thing to do. No one, unless it's their fetish, wants people to walk in on them when they're using the bathroom.

But does the producer remember if he used a toilet or a urinal? This matter was a crucial part of Wells’ investigation.

Unless they want to turn the NFL into WWE which is very popular with their cast of good guys and bad guys. At the end of the day, this is just entertainment.

The producer had been doing this for 18 years, according to him ( meaning filming football or working for the Pats I assume). So, if you’ve been doing it that long, HOW do you not realize you C A N T do that?
Read the story, ge went to the rest room and while gone the kid set up the camera. SNAFU all the way around.

Bengals should be waving good bye to Burrows for this.

I knew we could count on the league to allow a leak that puts the Pats in the worst light possible, thereby leaving them no choice but to lower the hammer.

Damn, can’t Patriots’ employees pee before coming to the stadium?

What a freaking joke.

Punching Goodell in his mouth is on my bucket list.
