Penalties being considered for the Pats - UPDATED 1/1/2020

It's not actually bad to anyone who actually reads and looks at facts. It is however how they handled deflategate. Tom Brady smashed his phone: he must be guilty. They rod that narrative all the way to a suspension because that's all they had. He likely didn't want to hand over his phone to a leak prone clown show in NY. Probably figured after consulting with his lawyers that it would be a fine at worst for that ala Brett Favre. I bet he wishes he had someone wipe the phone properly and handed it over now, but they would of found another way to get the end result they wanted anyway.

I think if the Pats are 1 and done and the NFL waits until summer to release the punishment there's a chance they just fine them. If the pats knock off KC or the Ravens, god forbid, all bets are off.

His agent gave him the worst advice and told him to go ahead and destroy the phone.

True. I'd imagine that's what the investigation is focusing on.
I would highly doubt it, unless you’re to believe that they go around the other 31 stadiums requesting access for various documentaries, and that they then film the sidelines in plain view in front of everyone while doing so. All without anyone else noticing or creating a fuss.

The Pats allowing themselves to get in this mess is just unbelievable. Of all the brain-dead things to do. Surely they aren’t surprised the rest of the league does not believe them, although they are likely being truthful.
I believe the Patriots are being truthful for the following logical reasons:

1) If you wanted to video the opponent sidelines in clandestine fashion, would you really do it from the freakin’ press box..?!?

2) The angles were atrocious. If you wanted to video the opponent sidelines, it would make a lot more sense to put someone in the stands with an iPhone.

Why is our organization so stupid sometimes?

I was pretty much ignoring this.

Until Fox showed the video of Bengals security confronting the guys...

"I don't see your advance scout in this footage"

"No, its not, we are trying to get some field perpsectieve. Thats my bad."

"Thats not the field"

Yeah that's gonna be a decent penalty. Especially as repeat offenders.

Please tell me you realize “field” has a totally different meaning to the cameraman, referring to the “field” meaning the actual scouting territory where the scout is observing. The scout does not just sit and watch the game, fill out a stat sheet, and listen to Dan Fouts on his transmitter radio. He watches the sidelines, coaches, and players to get advanced info. That’s why the cameraman thought the footage would be important to illustrate the scout’s job. That’s also a violation of NFL rules.

Repeat offenders? Suh was no longer a repeat offender after two years. How long is repeat offender status? Especially considering deflategate and spygate don’t even seem remotely the same thing.

Good thing I don't pay attention to this video taping crap! It's not healthy for me

I read the PFT article and it tells us exactly what Goodell said last week at the league meetings, in terms of them focusing their attention after the weekend.

Hey Tottie..I KNOW you're a Pats fan so take what I say as friendly CORRECT information. Brady's phone being destroyed was a total, unequivocal red herring. The league already had every bit and byte that was on the phone downloaded and examined BEFORE Brady destroyed his cell phone and got a new one....something that almost every celebrity not lying around in a drug induced coma does with frequency. It was a total straw man canard put out there by media and NOT DENOUNCED NOR EXPLAINED by NFL Offices. If you really followed the entire ordeal you'd know Judge Berman affirmed this in his ruling and that Goodell then appealed and won on the grounds that HE, Oberfuhrer Adolph Goodellher, can say and do whatever he wants to say and do in this league and there's NOTHING anyone can do about it. Article 46.

Brady's phone, air pressure in balls, the "deflater!", "12 balls two pounds under!!!"..all L-I-E-S. Period.

Man this tape is bad, the Pats employee saying my bad is a smoking gun.

It doesn't matter if that cut on the Glazer segment is out of context or etc... If the whole video was those 20 seconds that's already pretty bad. There's 8 minutes of tape.

Be ready to have another draft pick confiscated

Im prepared for whatever BS penalty the league will hand down. The tape on the other hand shows nothing that resembles any form of cheating.

I realize I could just use thread ignore, but I was glad when Deflategate finally got moved off the main board and into its own sub-forum. Now that the NYJFL and Vincent have announced they haven’t really started their “investigation”, this is going to drag out. Would like to see, as a statement that their power drunk shenanigans are largely bullsht and not actual rational acts, for this topic to be moved to a sub-forum unworthy of taking up space on the main board with real Patriots talk. Just my opinion. Thanks.

PS - The Bengals are 1-13...how embarrassing. Did they not realize who #24 is on the Pats? Some advanced scouting is needed for that dumpster fire organization...hope they tune in to Do Your Job for some tips.

The biggest issue to me over this whole stupid thing is that the guy who was doing the filming asked the security if they wanted him to destroy the film and all would be good - if it was not an illegal act i would have told security nothing is wrong here and GFY then make it sound like you got caught with your pants down.

That’s why it may be important to see the entire tape and not the “gotcha!” Snippet that was leaked without context.

Can’t believe you didn’t use this thread idea to suggest an Antonio Brown subforum months ago...

Except it was the field. The sideline is part of the field.

Or, alternately, you could believe that the Pats 'masterminded' a scheme where some dumbass sits in the press box directly in front of 30 Bengals employees to illegally take footage of stuff that can be easily and legally viewed using coaches' footage. Of all the people convinced this is some kind of cheating scheme, I've yet to hear anyone explain how that's in any way a more plausible explanation than it just being an honest mistake that resulted in no actual harm to anyone.

AB didn’t need a sub-forum; he needed an entirely new forum and site. ab.patsfans.com

Exactly. If I'm at a restaurant, mall, school, wherever and it's a single person bathroom, I lock the door. Everybody does. People act like McNally doing it extremely unusual when it's the opposite.

Hey there Mr Bundle of Joy, isn't this the eighteenth different doomsday type prediction you've made in the last month?

Here's some news for you. This team may have its issues but they ain't quitting. I love that about this team.

Anyway enjoy your "everything sucks" BS.

You were one of the very few who remained optimistic all through last season, even after the Pittsburgh loss.
