I'm still getting the sense that you did not read the statement.

The team explained what occurred, and the context in which those things occurred. There is no ambiguity or lack of clarity - the team's explanation was forward and transparent.

You either believe the statement to be honest or you do not.
The statement’s from BB and The Patriots have seemed rather calm and straightforward.

The reactions in this thread are making me feel more uneasy than anything else.

“Without knowledge of league rules” sounds benign to me and nothing like the team statement. I hope that is the case and the tape is nothing like the spygate tape.

Here we again, more for the haters. Were rules broken, that is the question? It won't matter if Pats didn't break a rule, 85% of NFL fans will say we did.

The Patriots already admitted a rule was broken.

I'm surprised you don't understand. It's pretty simple. When your only defense is "I was framed like a mother*******," you're guilty.

???

History has shown us, repeatedly, that sometimes "I was framed like a mother****er" is a very accurate assessment of what happened.

It's absolutely absurd to think this was an attempt to cheat. There is 0% chance of that. 0%.

There are so many things wrong with thinking that we were cheating here that I don't even know where to start.

I know how we can get this story off of the front pages. Sign Antonio!

Sure, if you define "sometimes" as 0.0001% of the time. The rest of the time, it is the last defense of the guilty.

Well I don’t love our odds, seeing as the organization has already admitted we broke a rule lol

Still, I highly ****ing doubt it was intended to gain an edge in the game

For the person who wanted a clarification or "proof" of Schefter getting info from the league...here's HIS tweet

Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter

An official for the Bengals, who were playing at Cleveland Sunday, saw a member of the video crew wearing a Patriots’ shirt and alerted the league, which confiscated the video, according to the source. NFL has video; Patriots say video is a press-box feature of the advance scout.

I'm with Ian here: it really depends on what's on the tape. I expect there to be a major fine, but I only see BB getting suspended if there's anything that looks like taping signals.
It may not even be major, it might just be a small fine if it turns out to be nothing. It honestly just depends on what they found.

The film crew is doing a documentary on scouting. The crew unwittingly films the sideline as part of the documentary to show what the scout looks at. The crew then is advised they're prohibited from doing so and voluntarily give up the tape. If it's proven they have no connection with the football operation, it's beyond a stretch even for Goodell to sanction BB. And IF the league tries to make something of it, Kraft damn well better come out with all legal guns blazing.
Tune, I consider you one of the more rational posters.

Do you think the NFL has much to gain here this time around? You never know with their incompetence, but it’s fair to wonder this time all things considered. I feel like the NFL would have more to lose at this point with another Patriots scandal.

What on earth are you talking about???????????

It happens with more frequency than that. If you want to dismiss the assertion in this case, that's fine, and I'm not talking about it in that context anyway. If you're trying to dismiss it generally, you haven't a clue as to what you're talking about.

The question is “does unwittingly go with one quarter of filming”? Of course, the Bengals guy could be mistaken or the info wrong. The contents of the tape matter.

Admittedly it is unnerving. There’s so much vagueness in this whole thing up to this point. This could go so many different directions in severity because of the fact that we don’t know what’s on that tape.

I believe the statement to be honest. It's consistent with what we know and I haven't seen any proof otherwise.

But I'll wait for the facts to come out. I don't just take an official corporate press release and leave it at that.

Who gives a flying you know what. How stupid do you have to be to record “unknowingly”after what happened with spygate. Hopefully it’s just a fine but there’s always some controversy with this franchise.

I would love for lord stalin to take this approach
