I don't but fine. They are JAGs. Nothing more.
Yes, I agree but they are JAGs who can run the right routes, have experience as NFL WRs, and wouldn’t be costing us points going the other way. The fact that Brady would be more confident and not so....overwhelmed trying to deal with what amounts to a whole new team of receivers (and Philip Dorsett) would be key in my opinion.

These new guys aren’t likely to do much. Remember when everyone sang the praises of the great and powerful Michael Floyd, who happened to cause an INT and never saw the field again? They tend to take first year miscommunication and mistakes fairly seriously, and right now the one and only hope that we have is that Sanu’s ankle won’t be as banged up. I don’t think anyone actually thinks that Harry or Meyers are going to be able to get the job done. I know that I sure don’t.

Aside from the Antonio Brown showcase game, Gordon was putting up fine numbers for a WR2.

So does Meyers. He would have his first 100 yd game if it wasn't for the penalties.

Point being that losing Gordon really has not affected production substantially. Yes, for now they are worse off in 50/50 ball situations. But again this kind of low percentage offense is not what the coaching staff wants to be running. And that makes sense with what and where the QBs strengths are.

It makes more sense to me to judge things based on what I think they are building towards to than by looking at results. I can see the logic behind preferring Sanu over Gordon for this specific offense.

Whether that works out or not is a different story but I am trying to make my evaluations not dependent on outcome but on the reasoning and process that goes into it.

Meyers has been fine as a WR4.

SO. Who is ready to cross over and admit that there is only one move for us to make to salvage the season and his name is Antonio Brown.

He should be in a Foxboro tomorrow morning.

that’s me

I don’t like the guy and the distraction that he brings. I’ve been very strong in my opinion that he is far more likely a return does not end well (more distractions, blasts coaches on social media after bad game, gets cut again)

but after watching last night the risk may be worth it.

I gave the pats a pass in the storm and even in philly, but now we’re a month long of inept offense that is extremely scary

at this point it couldn’t hurt

You talk naive and then talk about winning the SB in the same breath, with this offense. We have a better shot at resigning brown then we do going all the way with this offense.

If I were to put a probability on it, I'd say 20% right now. They have won the SB 33% of the time this century. 3 of their last 4 games are at home. The only road game is against the Bungles. Then they will have a week off for the bye.

Half the Defense won't have the flu by then. If they didn't last night, the Pats win that game 22-10. Seriously - - - people forget - - how many teams take a separate "sick plane" to a game??????

I agree that ultimately, Meyers has the higher ceiling here, but that’s not going to do much for this year when the decision was made to add in two new receivers to the UDFA rookie who was already trying to learn at the same time. On what planet does anyone see them making a deep run with this particular group of receiving options? Hell, they’re actually costing us points, not scoring them for us.

Okay, but not combined with two other first year players in Sanu and Harry. Having Brady try and trust three first year players isn’t going to show success for them.

And at this point, Jakobi Meyers is probably the WR2 over the other two. He’s surely not a WR4 like you’re suggesting. He’s basically our hope that there will be some option in the receiving game. He’s the only one that Brady trusts, which is kind of like the Kembrell Thompkins situation all over again. Remember how many fans sang his praises?

At certain points teams will have to make decisions that are also based on the future. Trading JG to the 49ers at the last moment didn't make the Pats a better team that year. If Brady had gone down it would have been a disaster.

At the same time you can argue given the overlap that Gordon's role had with Harry that removing him from the equations means more reps and opportunities for the first round WR. This has yet to materialize in anything substantial. But then again we not in January yet and given Gordon's production it wasn't exactly like cutting off an essential limb. But obviously the clock is ticking.

Meyers has been fine as a WR4.

If he keeps developing he will take over for Dorsett as WR3/WR4 for the next 2-3 years. He looks like a great find given his (non) draft status. Gotta keep the expectations in check

I was on the fence before good with whatever patriots decided to do but man now I hope they do resign him, this offense is hard to watch, felt like noone was ever getting open. I miss the days when they would blow teams out and everyone would complain about them running up the score. Lol

JE
Sanu
Dorsett

When healthy, all 3 are ahead of him

Not the past 2-3 games. Brady has looked to Meyers more than Philip Dorsett. And for good reason, because Dorsett is not a reliable downfield option, and he’s never truly gained Brady’s trust. It seems as though we’ve been having this same conversation for a couple of years now. Dorsett can produce as a role player when there are other guys for the defense to cover, but he’s terribly inconsistent when it comes to offering a reliable target who has talent and can produce as a main target.

Yes b/c they weren't healthy.

I think Dorsett is very average but he's a ok WR3.

Over/Under on days until Brady holds Kraft hostage at Gillette until he gives in and brings AB back?

Meyers has been fine as a WR4.

I think at this point Meyers is ahead of Harry on the depth chart. He's a good WR4 but not a good WR3, which is what he is at this point.

I remember the good ole days when Harry and Wynn’s return were going to save this offense.

Everyone hates AB.

I bet if we got him and he opened the anemic offense up again, that would change.
We ALL know he's a douche bag, a lot of NFL players are but he would take this offense
to another level and we all know it.

Brady wants him back, Bill wants him back, we all know that as well. There's no excuses now,
Brady finally had a decent offensive line, which held up pretty well last night, and ALL of his weapons and put up 3 measly points the first half.

Really believe now that I was initially at least partly wrong about AB's release. I think Kraft was tipped off by the league that AB was soon to go on the exempt list so they released him hoping to recapture some of AB's contract money. The texts just happened right before the release, so it really felt like that was the reason at the time. This would explain why no other team has bothered signing AB since and why TB12 continues to "heart" his posts on IG. The league forced AB out, not Kraft. Kraft was simply trying to get some of the money back. Not sure why AB expects the Pats to re-sign him when no other team will... just further proof of his headcase persona. But the real reason is every team knows he's headed straight to the exempt list as soon as they sign him.

These calls are getting louder.

Yep - been saying this. Kraft over reacted to fast. I understand the "assault" correlation thing and everything going on with Kraft but for God's sake man, you're team is struggling badly and he knows AB would change that, immediately.
