There's a reason he hasn't been signed by anyone. It's because of the looming suspension. And the biggest mistake was never releasing A.B. The bigger mistake was getting rid of Thomas before signing him. And letting Gordon go. But it is what it is. Ultimately, yes there's a good chance this team doesn't win the SB because of a lack of weapons. But AB wasn't the only weapon they had.

It's a shame because this defense deserves better. They are great. But can only do so much when the other side of the ball is useless. Tonight wasn't just a product of the flu. It was getting zero breaks from the offense. There's only so many times a defense can keep on going back out. Drive after drive. And not break.

I’m not sure what you’re questioning. The decision to add an outsider with no knowledge of the system during the exact time period when the liability (at least for 2019) known as Harry was coming back was dumb. Now Brady has two new receiving options to try and get up to speed (the great Joe Judge be damned) to go with Meyers, who happens to be the other underachieving rookie who is lost, so he can try and figure out how to deal with 3 receivers who aren’t on the same page at the same time. Oh, and Philip Dorsett.

Josh Gordon must have really done something wrong to where they’d select that ridiculously low percentage option of success versus keeping him for the last 6-7 games of the season and simply moving on at the end of the year. There’s no way that Brady’s going to be able to work with all of those first year receivers at the same time and have a productive offense. Any idiot who has watched the team can tell you that. He would’ve had his hands full with trying to get Harry up to speed, while also working with Meyers. Now, he’ll have to try and get all three up to speed while scoring totals of 17, 13, and 22 (in garbage time). Good luck with all of that and a lackluster run game. This team was going to be screwed the second the defense let up and/or the turnovers dried up. We’ve been talking about it for well over a month.

Gordon lined up both inside and outside, and he knew the offense well. It’s really as simple as that. Harry could’ve been blended in on plays depending on what Gordon’s responsibilities were, and Brady wouldn’t be (unsuccessfully) attempting to teach 3 new options at such an important point of the season.

He only was used on 50/50 balls and sometimes on slants, sticks depth crossers. He had about the same amount of yards that Jakobi Meyers has this year. And if he had not lost close to 90 yards yesterday to penalties he would be blowing Gordon out of the water.

This is not the Patriots cutting a potential 1000 yard receiver who had some kind of magic mind link with Brady.

This entire thing is absolutely confusing to me. Sanu is the ideal midseason pickup because of what his strengths have been. Which is winning quickly on the inside. Gordon clearly could not do that otherwise he would have been used there and the rookies are not there yet in terms of technique.

It is as easy as that. You wanna know what would have been the ideal solution (apart from the AB situation) ? Pulling off the signing of Humphries in FA. He would have had more upside than Sanu and an entire offseason to work himself in.

But being critical of the team trying to improve their struggling offense midseason is a weird concept for me. Gordon clearly wasn't cutting it for where they wanted the offense to go (focus on winning inside) so they went and got someone that will even translate into next year.

They clearly needed another player on the inside in addition to Edelman and White. Gordon has zero to do with any of that.

Gordon produced much more than anyone else has, and had some chemistry with Brady. He was good for 50 yards a game or so, and was a fine enough option as the WR2 behind Edelman. Most importantly, having Gordon wouldn’t have forced them to try and teach three first year players on the fly during the stretch run of the season.

Of course Humphries would’ve made a huge difference, but just like Beasley, Cook, and likely any offer to the Broncos for Sanders, they lowballed their offers and the team is worse off for those decisions. Sometimes they mess up and just like the inability to both address and utilize the TE position, this is coming back to bite them in the ass.

I was ecstatic when we signed him, hopeful when he got reinstated this year but I don't see the huge loss after how his entire campaign in 2019 resulted in less than 300 yards.

Most importantly, having Gordon wouldn’t have forced them to try and teach three first year players on the fly during the stretch run of the season.

Which would have stopped their growth for a player that wasn't outperforming one of those rookies, would not have been signed for an extension anyway and saved them a million or so in cap space. Just from a pragmatic point of view I just fail to see your point.

I guess you see the name Josh Gordon and can't help but associate when he was a dominant receiver 6 years ago with it. But if you just look at his numbers and his usage this year then there is nothing special lost.

My point exactly. Crunch time. You do understand the games in January/February are far more crucial than the games in September. That's why I was ok with the experiment with him at the beginning of the season. When he couldn't even stay straight for two weeks in the best situation he could ever hope for, he again proved no team can count on him later on when the chips are down.

Hey - - if he could be counted on - - I'd be all over getting him on the team. In a heart beat. He can't be counted on. How many instances do you need to understand that?????
