How Can the Pats Stop the Ravens?

Hope that a team can beat Baltimore before a potential rematch with them in the Championship game.

So, it Ok to pick the patriots based on SB appearances, and it is unreasonable to actually analyze the game and make a prediction?

I find just silly your suggestion that media folks should respect the patriots and predict that they will win, because of their great history.

It may be OK to expect every poster here to give patriots respect, and expect that they should win. After all, there is a penalty to be paid if a poster predicts that the patriots will lose.

It seems that FOR YOU it was just outrageous for anyone to suggest, before the game, that the patriots would likely have no answer for Jackson and the Ravens.

Well, should we shut down all analysis by posters and by writers, if they don't respect the patriots enough and suggest that they are likely to win? Really?

It was the way he was saying it. I think most objective fans would agree TODAY the pats would lose. But the defending champs with 4 of the last 5 SB appearances deserve more respect than he was giving. He was also acting like we'd lose 57 to 0 with his tone and there was nothing that could stop them. Give me a break.

BTW, as we look to playing the Ravens in the playoffs, our best reason for believe that the patriots will win is a belief that Belichick will come up with a game plan to win.

I suspect that HOU fans have better logic for believing that they will win this week.

His stat does not prove what he says it does. Here is the entire quote, including the part left out.

the stats in the article said a scrambling QB and a pocket QB in pass plays get hurt about as often. It then said on designed runs the Qb gets hurt one out of every 200-some runs.

This does not prove “running QBs are no more likely to get injured” be injured. They are likely to be injured every 200-some runs which is more than the qb who doesn’t run and instead hands off.
For those stats to price the running qb is no more likely to get injured it would have to say no QBs ever get injured in designed runs.

The point is that running puts the qb at risk of injury. Not just the ones that were included in that article but also smaller injuries that you play through or that mount and add wear and tear.
To say having the qb carry the ball on running plays adds zero risk of injury is blatantly wrong.

Was that so hard? You made a good point instead of being a jackass, and made me think. Keep it up and maybe people will stop thinking you’re AndyJohnson.

One thing to consider is that if we finish 1 and they finish 2, and KC finishes 3, it is likely they would face KC before they would come to NE. They would likely beat them in Baltimore, but it could be challenging. And if KC is rolling, they would have the capability of matching them score for score.

Lou Merloni was ****ting his pants today talking about the Ravens. As if we've never seen this before. Sure right now they look unstoppable and they would beat us today 7 out of 10 times. Talk to me in about 6 or 7 weeks and also let's see who has the 1 seed before we crown them champions. What a goddamned little b**** he sounded like.
Merlonis an idiot, if they play them again the results will be different.

HE (lou) was speaking like it was outrageous that the Patriots -yes the ones still led by BB and TB would have any answer for the mighty Ravens, champions of November. HE was speaking like an athletic run first QB who is hot was totally unstoppable and unseen before in nfl history (I guess he forgot about mahomes last season).

I never suggested the Ravens couldnt or wouldnt win. I In fact I said today they would win. I never said the media MUST predict a pats win...where did you get that from my comments? HE (Lou) made the insinuation it was impossible for the Pats to win. A laughable concept to him.....They have far more credibility than he gives them credit for. Winning over a long period tends to give a team credibility over the johnny come lately who hasnt won a meaningful playoff game in awhile.

He said wed lose by 27, to be fair to Merloni.

I get it that there is only so much to talk about during the NFL season but man do I hate threads like this.

First off, there is a really good chance that the Ravens and Pats don’t face each other again period. Whether that is because the Ravens blow a playoff game or the Pats do is yet to be determined.

Secondly, I get it that the Ravens and Lamar are really good. But Jesus the Pats have beaten much better teams than them over the years. And this defense is probably better and more complete than any they have had. Ravens don’t scare me, they shouldn’t scare you either. Especially if the game is at Gillette in January. It’s a 50-50 game at worst.

I have a feeling there was a similar thread last year about the Chiefs.

And that has what to do with how many points the defense gave up?
just further proof they kicked our behinds and that game really wasn't close and the defense will need to be much better

have KC beat them before we play them

Personally I want the rematch. To be the best you have to beat the best type of thing.

Someone’s been watching inspirational training videos over at the Jiffy Lube, again.

Patriots will use corner and safety blitzes to keep Jackson off his game.
They've done it before ... just don't do it a lot.
We'll use a stout line to stifle the run and open gaps for whomever is blitzing.

No excuses. Micheline's simply outperform against the toughest competition.

I turned on EEI today and thought Godzilla was attacking Gillette stadium, he was out of control...

As I said above, the offenses that are the best of all time have been completely embarrassed in the playoffs, usually by the Patriots (2001 and later). None of them has won a title.
