Raiders relocation to Las Vegas next year.

Lookout ... Bob might stop because of the free sign.

I dunno....... It won't be the same, to my mind, without having the Raiders in Bump City.

Though, to be honest, at least in Vegas you can go down to the nightclub, cause if you got the dough, the liquor will flow.

I really don't blame Mark Davis for doing it, The coliseum in Oakland has been ranked one of the worst stadiums in the league for a long time.

If only there was a way for the money printing machines that are NFL franchises to fix stadiums, not share a place with baseball clubs and not rely on public funds and try to blackmail cities into making the rich even richer.

And if Davis is no position to finance that then maybe he is not the right person to own one of the 32 NFL franchises and should be forced to sell to someone who can be a better custodian.

No matter how anyone looks at this the real winner is Mark Davis, it is about the bottom line ...

NFL football is about third on the list ...

I really hate when teams relocate because it pisses off an entire city when your team decides to pack up and leave town. It is going to feel really strange to have a team in Vegas next year but I really don't blame Mark Davis for doing it, The coliseum in Oakland has been ranked one of the worst stadiums in the league for a long time. I remember a few years ago, the sewage backed up and that sounds like hell.

Oakland is too similar to Ohio. They had to bail

First hockey, now football. It's only a matter of time before an NBA relocates there as well as MLB....
Was in Vegas a few times over the last two years and saw many more Raider jerseys than any other team. They are perfect match for each other..
I'd sign up to be a season ticket holder and sell the tickets to visiting fans... You know certain teams fans will travel there to escape Pittsburgh, GB or other degs.....

Someone mentioned about not being able to sell Vegas Raiders gear. Well that might be true of the official merchandise, but you can find plenty of Vegas shirts etc. out here.

For those planning on coming when the Pats play. Be forewarned, from what I hear, there will be no tailgaiting at the stadium.

There just isn't any room. Parking will be limited

The dumbasses decided to build the stadium in the city.

They could have just moved it about 5 miles south and had plenty of room.

Most people will have to park at remote locations and walk or buss to the stadium.

With only 2,725 parking places at the stadium itself, all that there's room for given the size of the property and how much of it the stadium occupies, it's been projected that 25,000 or so fans will walk to the stadium from the south Strip across Hacienda Avenue; turning the bridge over I-15 into a pedestrian promenade on event days is one part of the plan to get people safely to and from the stadium.

In the meantime, the stadium company has been buying up real estate near the facility, enough for another nearly 12,000 parking spaces in four satellite lots. That brings the total number of spaces around the arena to 14,650, but the total is still 1,600 less than Clark County is requiring for the project. For those spaces, the Raiders organization has been leasing nearby properties and making deals with adjacent businesses to compile a parking cooperative managed by the stadium.

Yeah but you can literally walk to the stadium from the strip. Its located on the other side of I-15 (west of the strip) across from the Mandalay Bay. Which means you can take the monorail to Mandalay Bay and walk to it. This is a no brainer for the NFL. Every Casino will have a luxury box and a set of season tickets. Every game will be sold out, fans from around the country will take a "boy's weekend" to Vegas to see their team play.

I was there twice this year, they have a Golden Knights pro shop at the airport. Wait til they start hawking LV Raiders gear.

Ever try that Vegas to LA Sunday afternoon drive? A 4 hour drive took me 9.5 hours from Vegas to Anaheim one lovely Sunday afternoon! Nowhere to turn.....
I did that drive 2X and it was 4 hours. Maybe an accident caused it to be 9.5 hours.

Spot on. Living here in the Bay Area, I can’t say I feel too bad for the city of Oakland. It’s an unsafe place and is generally regarded as the worst area within many miles. The stadium is terrible. The Warriors are leaving for SF this year and the A’s may be leaving soon as well (maybe to Vegas too.)

This doesn’t seem to me like “the little city that was loyal and couldn’t afford an NFL team.” It’s natural selection taking place in the sports world as cities are re-evaluated. Vegas will be a good city for pro sports; it’s a lot more safe, convenient, and fan friendly than Oakland.

Except exactly none of this matters or has any impact on the move. If Oakland had paid and built them a modern stadium they would have stayed.

I can't blame the city for not making this any priority whatsoever and I can't blame the owner for taking a better offer and move somewhere else. But lets not try to sugarcoat it with talks of "safety or convenience" but just say as it is. The only relevant metric in terms of evaluation was money.

There is: you demand a new stadium or threaten to leave town.

I believe something like a dozen NFL teams used to share their facilities with baseball. Today that number is down to 1, and that 1 has only 3 months left.

Guessing the Super Bowl weeks there will be slightly more interesting than those in MN or Indy.
A rotation of NOLA, LA & Vegas with the odd crumb dropped elsewhere is definitely in the offing. No complaint from me, Vegas & NOLA both know how to throw a party. No one does wretched excess better, sign me up

Don't forget about Tampa/Miami or Dallas/Houston. The NFL will never not have a FL or TX city in the rotation.

I've been to Vegas dozens of times on business, mostly in my 20s and early-to-mid 30s. It gets old fast. I suspect it will get old fast for the Raiders players living there. The "NFL will have its hands full" comments are overblown IMO.

Regards,
Chris

The City of Oakland is a cesspool.
The Coliseum is a cesspool.

I went to an A's game within the last couple of years. The stadium is as bad as people say. Thankfully the plumbing was working that day.

While there are still some bad areas of Oakland (obviously) the city is rapidly gentrifying. All those high tech workers who are priced out of SF are swarming into Oakland. I've got friends who live there and I've been astonished at how the city has changed over the last decade. It's no longer a cesspool.

I didn't forget sh!t, they were the crumbs I mentioned. The league is fully in bed with Kroenke in LA and is moving the NFLN studios there when the stadium is finished, hence LA. NOLA and Vegas are premier adult playgrounds and you can bet the environment for Super Bowl weeks there will keep/make them part of a regular rotation. Everywhere else will have to get on their knees to get the occasional game.

South Beach is a lot of fun, even if Joe Robbie (or whatever they call it now) is 45 minutes away

Yeah and fortunately the city decided right. **** the money printers for getting more things on someone else's dime.

I lived in that area 6 years ago, so I am not surprised things have changed. I remember seeing a lot of construction going on along the waterfront on the Oakland side of things, so it certainly makes sense those projects now have residents.

That's easy for you to say, but recent history shows plenty of medium-market teams that told their local NFL team "f-you" and lost the team - then begged the NFL to get one back.

Baltimore told the Colts to go screw so they left. Then Baltimore paid big time to get the Ravens.
St. Louis told the Cardinals to go screw so they left. Then St. Louis paid big time to get the Rams (whom they have obviously since lost).
Houston told the Oilers to go screw so they left. Then Houston paid big time to get the Texans.
Cleveland told the Browns to go screw so they left. Then Cleveland paid big time to get the new Browns.
