Why did the Patriots Release Ben Watson? Bill Belichick Has Simple Explanation
Of all the threads how has Gronk not been mentioned yet???
Clearly, I have been underestimating Izzo."We have a decent team"
Woah. Cue up the duckboats.

Don't get catfished by an e-lucy. Could be an e-luke.It’s kind of like J-date but instead of for Jews it’s for Elucis.
Agreed. As Belichick responded to the surprised tight end questioning his release, "Elementary, my dear Watson."Easy way to free up $2 million. No brainer, in my opinion.
Right, you want the girl who's just Luce.Don't get catfished by an e-lucy. Could be an e-luke.

Concern plantar fasciitis for Chung might keep him sidelined for a while. No IR spot if 2 of Wynn/Harry/Develin might return. Just guessing of course but a likely “heel” diagnosis. Not sure it's been mentioned, but basically said that they don't have a spot to put Watson because of the injuries to Ebner and Chung and the uncertainty of Stidham and the play of Izzo/LaCosse.
Ok. Belichick didn't say those words specifically, but he said "We don't have a roster spot". I'm sure every one of us said "Dump one of Richards, LaCosse, Izzo, or Kessler".
Well, clearly the Pats like the development of LaCosse and Izzo.
The Injuries to Ebner and Chung are what is keeping Richards around.
The uncertainty of Stidham and Brady's calf are what is keeping Kessler around.
The book may not be entirely closed on Watson. Only time will tell..
Now if you could tell me what that means I might be goodIt’s kind of like J-date but instead of for Jews it’s for Elucis.
I was just kidding. I have no ideatrue, but unfortunately the 1 WAR was SB 54.. it's too bad.
oh well!

That is a lot of assumptions for breaking news. He hung up his cleats? It was his choice? Huh?
Or, you know, Belichick decided they need the cap room to get real help.I was surprised to see it was the Patriots who cut the cord (my stupidity for once again believing initial media reports). While rosters spots are at a premium, it's hard to believe that Watson would not have been activated if he showed something during his exempted roster spot practicing. BB has to know how much the O would benefit from a good TE coming aboard, and what BB saw must have made him think Watson just wasn't showing enough. Add in special teams needs that Watson probably couldn't play on, add in the 2m savings by cutting him (not a small amount for a team with little space) and I guess the numbers didn't add up for Watson.
But damn, could we use just a modestly good TE or what.
