Struggling with the Colts at home

Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense is great. But that defense is a huge downgrade over last year. The Chiefs front office is banking on defense not being necessary for a championship.

If Mahomes is gone for a week with that ankle injury, this team isn't the Saints or Colts (i.e. able to rally around the backup to win games). They just lack so much skill and fortitude on defense that without the offense driving all day, that defense will fade in a half.

But monitoring the fact that the Chiefs are getting ravaged with injuries IS worth reacting to right now. Especially since Mahomes is one of those players.

Let me clarify. The Patriots struggled in the 1st half against an awful team. But I don't think that means they aren't still a great team. Same with KC in this game. It's only week 5.

"Garbage" is what Miami and the Bengals are. Teams that aren't competitive on a weekly basis.
