How does the 2019 team NOW compare to the 2007 team?

To be generic and simple: Better defense, less explosive offense (thus far)

The disrespect to the 2007 WR corp in this thread is disgusting

It's a great WR group, no doubt, but it's not nearly as great as the current corps.

2007 had the greatest wide receiver of time posting one of the greatest seasons of all time while breaking the record for most TDs in a season.

They also had the best slot receiver in the league, one of the fastest receivers in the league (along with Randy), and an extremely solid receiver that had a great connection with TB.

Please explain how this group is not only not better than this years version, but as you put it "not nearly as great". As if it's no competition. Ridiculous.

The receivers of 2019 are great no doubt, but come on, they can't touch Prime Moss, Welker before the league new what Welker would become, Stallworth, Gaffney, and younger Watson.

Moss alone completely took over games and would draw triple coverage. Brown is simply not in the same league.

Ask me in 17 games

Edelman > Welker

Moss vs. Brown - push

Gordon > Stallworth

Dorsett > Gaffney (Dorsett already on pace to double the yards Gaffney had in 2007)

Edelman is the 2nd most clutch playoff receiver of all time, behind Jerry Rice. Brown is potential future HOFer. Gordon has HOF like ability, even if he doesn't make it because of his various issues and missed games.

I think the 07 wr corp is better, but This team can mix the passing with the running game better than 07

That's a very important aspect of the offense to be considered..

Ask Davante Culpepper how good Moss was...Moss won him an MVP and made him look like a potential HoF QB and then...well we know the rest.

That's the part people are missing, but I caveat that with, it's most likely because the run game hasn't looked great behind the patchwork line. It will get better (hopefully) with health.

One receiver does not make a WR corpS. And Randy was non-existent when we needed him the most.

The both played at least two games?

The 2007 team cut down one of the most brutal schedules I can remember in a long time with ease.

This team has a relatively easy schedule other than a 5 game mini gauntlet in November.

Exciting for sure but the jury is waaaay out.

Edelman > Welker.

In 2007 Welker was the best slot receiver in the league and led the league in receptions. Posting nothing but a greater than symbol is useless and doesn't explain anything.

Moss vs. Brown - push

AB is easily one of the best WRs in the league. But he's not on the level of the GOAT WR during the year he broke the record for most TDs in a season. So nono it's not a push.

Gordon > Stallworth

Agree.

Dorsett> Gaffney (Dorsett already on pace to double the yards Gaffney had in 2007)

In the first half of the season Gaffney was the fourth option where in the second half he moved up to third due to how reliable and his pure clutchness (e.g. his game winning TD catch against the Ravens that year). Saying Dorsett's already on pace to double his production is useless, we've only played 2 games this season. This one's close but I'd give it to Gaffney.

Randy Moss is the greatest receiver of all time, ahead of Jerry Rice and is a hall of famer. Wes Welker is the greatest slot receiver of all time. Stallworth is one of the fastest receivers of all time.

You still have yet to prove that 2007 is "not nearly as great" as the 2019 squad.

He damn sure took 50% of the secondary to cover him. And saying he wasn't there when we needed him the most. He was open and Brady overthrew him. Not to mention the second half of 2007 and into the SB the refs allowed teams to all but tackle our receivers. I distinctly remember Moss running a dig route and the receiver held onto his jersey hard enough and long enough that his shoulder pad popped out of his jersey without a call.

I'm not arguing against your premise per se, but Moss in this instance does most likely put that receiving corps above this one.

But just like the running game it will be hard to judge the offense not just the WRs until the line is healthy. 07 Brady had days to throw the ball.

You mean catching what would have been the game winning TD in the SB to go 19-0 if the defense didn't go full ****** that last drive?

2007 had a harder schedule. The offense was better. The Defense this year is better (mostly due to he secondary).

It helped that his defender slipped, but sure, I'll give you that one...

Moss vs Brown isn’t a push.

Moss caught 17 TDs... as a rookie. Only 13 seasons in history have had receivers that caught 17 or more TDs and three of them are Moss. Moss did most of this catching passes from scrub QBs.

Brown is great, but a guy that’s 6-4, with 4.3 speed and soft hands is a freak that the NFL had never seen before, or since.
