Just like I said...

Not sure if this has been discussed, but in the postgame beddard (spelling?) is saying that he thinks AB might be signing a four year deal tomorrow. But something about it being void after the first year? Idk
The imfamous "Voidable Contract"

I listened to Mort on ESPN - he said Brown wanted his release and consulted social media experts to help orchestrate things to make that happen. Said nothing about the Patriots or collusion and the Pats aren’t being accused of anything.

Nothing to see here folks. Except caveat emptor for the Pats. I hope it works out.

I assume that the Pats speak with agents all the time and a good agent would know what teams to reach out to. AB's release seemed possible for the past week so the Pats being fully prepared to act quickly would not be a surprise.

Drew Rosenhaus is Gronk's agent. He's been talking with the Patriots for years.

Very long article here. Some points include that Brown transformed very, very quickly from a model citizen to disgruntled last year. A lot of optimism here, as Big Ben is always the real problem with that organization, which we already know...he is a total d-bag and Tomlin has chained his career to Ben in a pathetic, deferential way.

After reading this and considering what a great teammate Brady is (in particular, how leadership and work ethic), I am way more optimistic that this will work out. Still have no idea about the Raiders fiasco, though.

How Mike Tomlin's Big Three Became Just Big Ben
Wow. What a mess that place was/is.

My objection to all of this PatsHate is to ask: why didn't the Colts, Texans (!) or another team with significant cap space offer up a lot more money? It's not like they couldn't call Rosenhaus.

No one else wantedto take the risk the Pats are taking.

Aw, c'mon. What would this forum be without a juicy conspiracy theory to warm our hearts every year? We all know that Belichick kidnapped the Lindbergh baby and that Bob Kraft paid off Playboy playmates to sleep with the occupant of the White House. It's clear that Brady made the Raiders hire Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden to turn the Raiders into a three-ring circus so the Patriots could have their pick of Raiders at a discount.

The media pearl clutching seems to have less to do with the Pats and tampering and more to do with AB being rewarded with ending up in New England by making a nuisance out of himself in Oakland. The way I could see this going is people like Peter King and them will want a rule change that the NFL not allow malcontents like AB to end up where he wants in the same season. The NFL makes the rule change at some point and then the haters say that this season is another * for the Pats.

But then again, if AB ended up on any other team, literally no one cares.

Still, today, PFT can't get enough of the AB story, even after all the actual games yesterday.

Interesting piece. I never respected Tomlin much. He was always an excuse maker. Now he's made his bed, he gets to sleep in it.

Ben seemed to be close to retiring two seasons ago. Personally I think he's lost it, and is now just in it for the money. The end for both of them may be sooner than we expect.

It's kind of ironic for Ben to be pushing AB away at the same time we read TB12 is one million percent in.

The imfamous "Voidable Contract"
Yep, just like TB12 got, it lets you spread the hit over years you know aren't going to be taken up on that contract.

Nobody cared when Jimmy Butler orchestrated his trade to Philly. Same deal here except its the Pats.

FWIW:

If true, he has already signed the contract.

We'll know by 4pm today who he replaces, and probably tomorrow contract details as they are posted on NFLPA's website.

Very interesting....reaffirms my suspicions that Ben is a total prick. Sounds like that organization is a dysfunctional mess.

If this article is true, then AB should be a model citizen here. He will see a culture where TB12 has no ego and is subject to all of the same rules the rest of the team is. He will fall in line with that type of leadership, because that's what he was looking for. It will be a group of guys fighting with each other, not against. This is going to be an amazing signing.

How so?

At first, i thought AB was going crazy

But if it was nothing but a premeditaded, architectured scheme, to get the Raiders to release him (and possibly for the Patriots to get him)... Are you confident they won't crusade against us?

Cause I am not. I remember Deflate gate so clearly. At first started like a joke, but i never started laughing
How does that change anything? They're ALREADY crusading against us.

Halloween, at the latest...

And after last night's game, with even more weapons on the bench/not dressed, do we really need Clowntonio the Cancer anyway?

Was looking for a thread for this and was surprised one wasn’t already up. I don’t know how to post polls so just throwing it out here.

- September 30
- October 30
- Thanksgiving
- Playoffs surprise screwing
- Duckboats and leave
- Duckboats and Contract Extension

I am thinking he lasts until Thanksgiving. I am kind annoyed that the Patriots will have to cut a good player for Brown.

This is just starting to sink in for me. If he is motivated and a good teammate this team has a chance at being the greatest football team ever assembled.

Patriots added an option year for Antonio Brown in 2020 at $20 million which becomes guaranteed if executed, per source. It was done to help for cap proration purposes this season.

So there's the second year for salary cap purposes.

How the WR group looked on April 1st vs. now

Edelman, Dorsett, Harris, Ellington, Berrios, D. Patterson
vs.
Brown, Edelman, Gordon, Thomas, Dorsett, Meyers

And Dorsett, the 5th WR, had 4 catches for 95 yards and 2 TDs in the opener. :D
