I think the safeties and slot corners is explained by basic economics. There are noticeably fewer capable secondary players in the NFL than at other positions. This is why the Gilmore signing was so brilliant, too, because they identified an elite cornerback going’s into his prime and pulled the trigger, and despite paying him a huge amount, are still coming out in the plus column on this; they also paid through the nose for Revis in 2014 and gave McCourty a huge deal, and both were good deals.

Seems that finding a pass catcher or pass rusher mid season, via trade or developmental player, isn’t as tough as you’d think, which is why you see guys like Jones, Flowers, Cooks, etc. often traded away/not re-signed since the Patriots realize they are overpriced.

How many competent cornerbacks and safeties could you pickup without giving up a huge amount of capital? We saw the results in SB52 vs. SB53 when you’re a player short versus well-stocked in the secondary. I think Bill just looks at it like supply and demand.
On SB52 they were 3 short. No MB and Badman and Richards are awful

Damn! Polite got released already? I guess Jets/Florida Gators football is a terrible combination.

Thank god they took Polite and we got Winowich. Wowzers. Early 3rd round pick for Jets that gets cut before season and clears all waivers versus our potential DROY candidate. Thank lord for the Jets....... the gift that keeps on giving.

Lmao

Polite cut

Stefan Wisnewski, please

Kalil and Robinson might both be upgrades.. Wonder what they are looking for..

Stefan Wisnewski, please

Is Wisnewski an upgrade over Bodine or Eluemunor.. I know I mentioned him as well, but that will be the questions the Pats will ask..

Read that the JETES fined Polite over 100K prior to him being cut.
Looks like the kid is a total loss..Which is really too bad..

Wonder why they think he's not eligible.. only spent 2 years on PS. Also only played in 1 NFL game..

He’s like 35 years-old.

Jk, but he’s old for a 3rd year player, 26 soon to be 27, I believe. Would be nice to have on the practice squad to see if he is a late bloomer but also to play the role of the big WR depending on the opponent.
