Patriots Cuts

What I find most incredible is that Andrews can even come back.

Gunner's back.

Rapaport is reporting that the Pats have traded Crossen to the Texans. Somewhat surprising as I thought he’d play a big role on STs.

The rumors of Gunner's demise might have been pre-mature...

Crossen Traded..

Wasn’t gunner already cut? Why would dumping crossen change that?

The hell is going on?

Rapsheet says Gunner made the roster now as the Pats have decided to trade Keion Crossen to the Texans.

It's his speculation, yes.. Though others are questioning Rapsheet's thinking on this..

I'm not quite sure what Gunner and Crossen intrinsically have to do with one another, but I'll trust that it's based on concrete news rather than guessing about who would be next man up on special teams.

Why didnt we try to trade Hoyer? Are they planning on bringing him back if we can find the space?

:) I guess that they were counting ST positions, or even the last couple of decisions to be made.

In any case, we don't need 6 CB's, although some would count Obi as a CB, IF he makes the roster.

Are they moving Gunner permanently to CB? I don't get Rapsheet's tweet lol.

It's not necessarily being a "fanhoy" it's reading the tea leaves. IF the Pats were set on going with 2 QB's why not get something back in a trade. Just off the top of my head the Colts and Lions are 2 no brainer trade partners. The Lions just gave up a 7th to get some guy no one has ever heard of. So if Hoyer was simply waived and see ya later, I'm going to be mightily pissed at the missed opportunity to get something back.
Doesn’t mean they want to trade for a player they know will get cut. He is not starting for either team.

No, Gunner has promised to learn the QB position in time for the Steelers game.

I thought we'd keep Crossen for ST. He was a binky pre-draft, so I was happy to see him here. But just like Obi, another guy I liked in the lead up to his draft class, he hasn't shown enough on defense. I did think Gunner would make the 53, so it would be nice if my vote was accurate on that poll!

Still surprised about Hoyer. Stidham simply didn't seem ready yet, though he's clearly the better player going forward. I hope we don't have to see him this year much.

It's nice BB listened to the public outcry of cutting Gunner and changed his mind.

So this might've been be the last “ST roster spot“ battle.
If so (we know how informed the “reports“ are) Im surprised they would go that way.
I loved Keion from the start and he is a good ST player already but with the emergence of very solid ST youth (Bentley, Winovich, Brooks etc.) and esp. JoJu at his position I thought Gunner who can play all ST units and multiple positions and offers the only real alternative to Jules at legit PR would always have a better chance..

UPDATE: According to Evan Lazar, the Patriots informed Gunner that they'd changed their minds..
