Veteran WR Dontrelle Inman has requested his release from the Patriots

I was hoping he made the 53, but like Ken said it was odd how he was hardly targeted. Oh well.

I wouldn’t be too sure the TE Situation won’t be resolved this year. The wizard Belichick always finds a way. I would not be surprised if he makes a trade for a TE late in camp. Or even early in the season. Different position, but look at the Van Noy trade, what a great trade, and what a difference he’s made.

Van Noy was a great find, and I think they will be fine this season, but in terms of finding the next long term starter at TE I don’t see it happening for a year or two.

One less piece for the WR puzzle, but I wasn't expecting him to make the team anyway. Still a lot of shoes to drop before we know who the opening day guys are. Good luck Dontrelle!

I suspect it's a lot easier to find a diamond in the rough in a position like LB, where HOW they're playing you is critical, than at TE, WR, RB, where all of your skills are pretty much on display all of the time.

As for Inman...vet player who knew that even if he made the 53, he could be out of work in a couple of months, with DT and Meredith sitting there. With JE, Gordon, Harry, the rise of Meyers (and Dorsett sitting there), he really wasn't going to do much of anything here absent a whole bunch of injuries. And he didn't play ST, did he?

Good move for both player and team.

The vitriol in this thread for a journeyman JAG receiver is ridiculous. It’s not like he’s Antonio Brown who we gave up picks and spent big money on. He didn’t spaz out and go AWOL over a helmet, he is an aging receiver who is doing what he feels is in his best interest to continue earning a paycheck. In the end of the day this is a business and he has every right to do what he thinks is best for him.

Agreed 100%. There are plenty of teams running different systems with different situations that might have a place for him. If he feels like it's just not working out here, or he'll get caught in a numbers game, who can blame him for wanting to see if there's a better fit somewhere else. Even if he made the team, he'd be behind Edelman, Gordon, seemingly Harry and Meyers, PLUS the running backs. He might even be a gameday inactive most weeks barring injury, and that's IF he gets to stay once Thomas is healthy. I don't think what he's doing it unreasonable at all.

Does anybody have a slight fear that they cut Meyers. BB always does things that sometime we don't understand and this would absolutely baffle me. He has been absolutely fantastic this camp and I hope that not only he is part of the team but a major player.

I actually had a dream last night that they cut Meyers, which is sad no matter how you look at it.

The thing about Myers is that he has been lights out with Hoyer and Stidham. It's how he does with Brady that gets him on this team. How many times have we seen a WR goes lights out in the preseason only to see him disappear when the games count?

Why would he cut the Best healthy WR in camp?? A guy who seems in tune with Brady and catches everything thrown his way. Meyers might be better than Harry right now.

The team betrayed our holy savior before the Goodell crowed 3 times as was prophesized.

PS - Later you ****ing *****. Seriously I thought he had an outside chance and could put up some numbers but this is a ***** move. If you can't fight to win the #4 spot on a SB champion over Dorsett, Harris, and Berrios you're garbage. Heaven forbid you fight to win the #3 spot from an undrafted rookie...
There is research on what happens to end-of-days cults when the days don’t end lol. Half the cult leaders skip town with the tithes the night before, the other half spin in confusion and existential crisis, depending on whether they truly believed.

Sad that Meyers would be cut, or sad that you're having dreams about him? ;)

How DARE he.

You’re right it’s stupid. The guy is not going to make the cut, he should do what is best for him. People are being grade A morons, vilifying him for having the gall to turn away a few more weeks with the Pats.

Not in the least. Meyers makes the 53

How can you say he’s in tune with Brady when they haven’t played any game snaps together? Looking good in practice isn’t the same as looking good in games

Inman gone, and Gordon on NFI. Which poster will show the first signs of panic?
Here I am, Moe...

If I were Bill and Inman requested his release, I would've told him: While we still have 2 more games to play? Feck that, I have players to protect...

And that would get out to every player in the league, and that would have a huge negative impact on future FA signings.
