No, but he’s probably the most accurate armchair football doctor out there from his previous experience. He definitely might be wrong, which he fully acknowledges due to the lack of first-hand information he has. His hypothesis is well-reasoned though, if you scroll down a little to his multiple posts about Luck. Right or wrong, his list of contradictory statements by Luck/the Colts indicates this may not just be a minor issue.

I wonder when the organization comes to a crossroads with Luck. A very good, but not great QB who has had a ton of injuries lately. Maybe they think about trading him next year.

You know, this is an interesting thing to follow as a thought experiment for what we're going to go through in the next 3-5 years. Luck was as sure-fire a QB prospect as you will ever get. He was universally rated as a good NFL QB from the moment he started in college. That's what made the decision for the Colts a little "easier" with regards to Manning. They knew if they played it right, they were getting the next guy and could keep it rolling.

And though Luck HAS been a very good QB, his injury history (partially him, partially on the Colts' inability to develop an OL) and his inability to step up in the postseason should serve as a reminder that there are no sure things in the NFL. I ideally would like to have Brady's replacement ready to go the minute he retires, but if it comes down to squeezing another year or two out of Brady or moving on for "the next great QB", I think I'm sticking with Brady. Because you just never know...

Luck has never at any time performed close to the expectations. You can cite stats, etc, but this is a passing era and he’s an above average QB but certainly not elite (unless you count the preseason QB ranking every offseason, where he excels due to his “imminent breakout.”). He’s always better in theory than in reality. Healthy, unhealthy, the guy is a good player but is too inaccurate and turns the ball over too much to be compared with the likes of great QBs.

I personally didn’t understand all the hype about him coming out of college. He’s a strong guy with a good NFL build but never looked like a perfect pocket QB and didn’t have the mobility to be a huge dual threat. He seemed liked a good prospect, worthy of the top pick, but I never understood the hype about him being a once-in-twenty-years guy. Even from just a QB skills standpoint, I don’t see why this guy would be a better prospect than other hyped up QBs that went very high. I think he had a better floor and a near certain chance of success, so in that regard he was a rare prospect, but his ceiling was clearly overhyped, as many others have surpassed him. He will definitely never even approach the level of Prime Manning (it pains me to type that.)

Trevor Lawrence on the other hand, is what you’d call a generational talent. You don’t need the scouts to tell you that. Just watching him play is clear evidence that, unless he gets injured or runs into mental problems/distractions, this guy will be a sure-fire NFL star with an extremely high ceiling.

I'm no doctor, but I looked up the condition, and what it appears to be in layman's terms, is a condition where you injure a muscle and in trying to repair itself, your body gets confused and starts to grow bone there rather muscle cells. Is this correct? If so, it doesn't sound like an itty bitty problem.

I believe that’s the gist of it. Considering recovery time for this injury is approximately one year, then no, this is not an itty bitty problem IF this is indeed what he has.

I was super high on Luck early on in his career but he just seems to hover around very good and not great. He’s never been a first or second team All-Pro, never been top 5 passer rating, and never been to a Super Bowl. I feel like he’s a half notch above Stafford who at this point in his career many people view as somewhat of a disappointment.

Luck is an exceptional statistical QB when the Colts are down a ton of points. Has more career pass attempts, yards and TD's while losing than he does tied or ahead combined. Plus his playoff numbers bite (73.4 QB rating)

Yeah, Luck seems like a decent enough guy but I'd be lying if I said this whole thing didn't feel like a bit of karmic retribution to the Colts organization and fanbase. **** em all.

Screw the Colts in general, but I really do feel bad for Luck. He’s a pretty good dude & has never disrespected or slighted us as far as I’m aware. He’s been carrying that clusterf*ck of a franchise since he arrived and they never attempted to provide sufficient protection until recently. May be too late. Sucks for him.
