OT: Rumor that Dak Prescott declines 30M a year.

Jerry Jones IMO has done a poor job of negotiating this off-season as he constantly stated how great Dak was. When you're buying a used car you can't let the seller see how much you really want it or he will never lower his asking price.

Tough spot when you start connecting the dots. Only one of them is a true game changer, Zeke. Hes a legit blue chip player. 1 of maybe 5 RB's that actually matter. He's the most talented, gets the most attention from defenses but plays the most replaceable position in arguably all of sports.

You got Cooper specifically bc of his precise rr. Stop/start ability. Very clean rr that makes Dan feel safe. Cooper is the type of WR Dal needs as opposed to Bryant. Dak doesnt want to gamble.

So you get a new WR(s) for your QB, remember Cobb is there now too. It only makes sense to pay both considering both are dependent on each other in some type of way.

Again just a tough spot. Goes to show you how incredible NE's run has been.

Most teams are afforded abt 2-4 years to win before switching up/retooling or falling off. Its so difficult to put together a winning team. Once you do, the clock is ticking. You have to start paying people, replacing players, teaching new players etc... Very very difficult & here we are going to 20 years of unprecedented success.

Sure wish we had Drafted Dak instead of Brissett good Cowboys find there.

Having seen what I’ve seen from both I would rather have Darnold.

Let's stop dumping of Dak dude is 26 not even in his prime he's been decent and also a Iron man.

He’s been solid but he’s been a game manager, he can’t elevate those around him. The offense runs through Zeke and when teams were stacking the box early last year that offense struggled. That’s why they needed to go out and trade a first for Amari Cooper. They needed someone on the outside to help Dak and Zeke. I don’t think he’s a bad QB by any means but I don’t think he is someone to build a franchise around.

That Brady was considered a game manager by most in his early years too. And look how he turned out...hey when a guys shows durability that says something. So far Dak had been very durable I am sure the Cowboys fan base ain't complaining about him.

The league was also much different back then. It wasn’t the pass happy NFL it is now. There were more bell-cow RB’s churning out 1200+ yard seasons and maybe 2-3 QB’s were passing for over 4,000 yards. Now you have a few backs a year that go over 1200 yards and half the starting QB’s in the league throw for 4,000 yards. You didn’t need your QB to win you games throwing all over the place and at this point that’s not what the Cowboys need Dak to do. At the same time Dak apparently wants to be paid the same way the guys putting up gaudy stats are.

As far as Cowboys fans go, if the forums are any indication they don’t want Dak getting paid a ton of money.

I feel like I don’t give Dak enough credit, he’s good...but I still don’t really trust him. He’s played big in a few big games gotta give him some credit. Not sure what to value him.

It’s an NFL contract so who knows how much of that alleged 30 mil a year was real money. Dak might be in the right.

He's not. Prescott isn't worth $20M... He and his team are whack jobs.

Maybe its my anti-Cowboy bias but I don't think he should be paid
top 5 QB money yet. Let him play out the year and then franchise him if need be for 2020. It gives you 2 more years to evaluate if he is the right long term QB.
Dak is delusional and Jerry is his usual insane self if either one thinks he's worth anywhere near even $30M, much less 40. He's not a top-tier quarterback - he's barely in the second tier.

They’re going to have their hands full trying to sign Prescott, Cooper, and Elliot to new deals, seeing as how all three players want top money.

If I were running the team, I’d concentrate on keeping Elliot, since he’s the most important of the three. I’d want to see another year of both Prescott and Cooper before handing them top 3 contracts.

Also, I’d be using the term “gloryhole” much more than Jerry Jones does.

Call for Mike Mayock on the Blue and Silver courtesy phone.

Belichick would trade Zeke Elliot in a heartbeat. Total diva. He has a big cap number in 2019, more miles on the odometer than a 4th year back should have, and is a huge burden in 2020 with a $9 million cap hit.

Dak is a guy who I think could be really good for a coach who could adapt their offense to the QB's strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately Jason Garrett has been trying shoehorn Dak into the Troy Aikman role in his off-off-off Broadway revival show of the 1990s Cowboys without doing any rewrites.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills or something

In what world is Dak Prescott worth that kind of money? That would make him the highest paid QB in the league and he’s only won a single playoff game in his career, has never passed for more than 4000 yards and/or 30 TDs. He’s got a stellar offensive line and a good amount of weapons around him, yet his production is rather mediocre

I honestly don’t think he’d get anywhere close to that as a free agent, even with all of these stupid and desperate GMs throughout the league

Am I missing something? Dak has been GOOD at times, but not great and certainly not a special player worthy of being paid as the #1 QB in the league

simply amazing... he’ll destroy the team with a contract like that

Soooo you're not his agent.

Dak is a middle of the pack QB and is like a #3 starter in baseball. When things are right around him he has the ability to be successful (division winner/2nd round of playoffs) I have yet to see him put the team on his shoulders and carry them through rough patches. He has only had 5 300 yard passing games total in his 3 years as a starter.
The devil is in the details but if the Cowboys guarantee over $50M and structure a 4 or 5 year contract that is anywhere near the $30M a year range they are taking a huge risk.
