The Cowboys are all hat and no cattle. They're headed back to 8-8. This the culture that Jerry Jones has created down there with all this excess and hype. When guys still on their rookie deals start holding out and demanding top NFL dollar with a career playoff record of 1-2, you know that mediocrity is where you belong.

They’re going to have their hands full trying to sign Prescott, Cooper, and Elliot to new deals, seeing as how all three players want top money.

If I were running the team, I’d concentrate on keeping Elliot, since he’s the most important of the three. I’d want to see another year of both Prescott and Cooper before handing them top 3 contracts.

Also, I’d be using the term “gloryhole” much more than Jerry Jones does.

Are there really no QB's who can game manage behind Zeke and that OL?

That’s what I say too, but Jones seems set on keeping Prescott. He’s been very open about his desire to keep him for awhile, now. Like I said, I would want to see a full season with a top WR (Cooper), first.

If Dak gets 30-35, how does it impact Tom’s negotiations. Hopefully it has no impact.

Avarice of some players has no boundaries.NFL seems to be a race not for who has got more rings but whose contract is more lucrative.

That is right.Maybe I am a bit sentimental but I am missing times when attachment to the organisation meant something for the players. That is why I appreciate players connected with the one team.

Offer him 23 with an optional 12 million bonus if he's the SB MVP.

Right and a put your money where your mouth is. If you want 30-40 million you better be backing it up with the ultimate win (and being the one responsible for it).

Though the ramifications of holding 12 million for a bonus could cause other issues (though I don't know enough about the salary cap to honestly answer that).

I watched a few Cowboys games last year and my general impression was that he's pretty average. Doing a quick stat lookup I was surprised that he's not that far removed from the other guys in that 30M+ range including AR, Ben and Wilson. Without having really watched him it's tough to put context around how he got there.

His trend is interesting. Year one he was lights out. Year two he regressed majorly as teams figured out what he did well and what he didn't. Last year was a rebound year that put his production almost directly in the middle of years 1 and 2.

I have to agree with the OP who said let it play out and see what he does this year and then franchise him if needed. As much as the Ravens overpaid for Flacco back in the day at least he was coming off a SB win where he was lights out in the playoffs. Dak's done squat.

My neighbor (a Cowboys Super fan) and I were talking about this report yesterday getting our daughters on the school bus. He echoed a point made above, let him play out this year and tag next if need be.

He agrees that Dak isn't close to the guy who should be resetting the market and Jerrah would be a fool to do that. Dak is barely a top half of the league QB.

He also said they should let Zeke holdout and lose an accrued year.

Jerry has some serious money to pay on the defensive side of the ball too in the next 12-18 months.
I hate the Cowboys because I despise the Jones family. This team won't even win their division.
Welcome to cap hell, you douche bags.

He’s not great but I don’t think there’s 20 QB’s in the league better than him.

    Oh come on be fair.

    Maybe something like

    $20m base
$5m for throwing for 4000 yards (which he has never done)
$5m for throwing 30TDs in a seson (which he has never done)
    $5m for winning SB MVP

My understanding is there is only a cap cost for likely to be earned incentives. Where "likely" means you did it the previous year.

So win the SB, would be a LTBE incentive for Tom Brady
Throws for 4000 yards would be a NLTBE incentive for Dak Prescott
